Experienced hooker Rob Hawkins is the most recent addition to Leicester Tigers' hefty injury list this week.
The 30-year-old is set to be out of action until December with a recurring shoulder problem.
Hawkins had minor surgery on the shoulder several months ago to try and correct the grievance, but the operation did not yield the anticipated results.
Consequently the hooker will have to undergo more surgery, and faces a lay-off of over two months.
Tigers Director of Rugby Richard Cockerill is left with a squad bereft of many key players, with Hawkins joining the likes of Tom Croft, Manu Tuilagi, Gonzalo Camacho, Matt Smith, Steve Mafi and Mat Tait on the sidelines.
"The specialist thought a small procedure in the summer would have solved Rob's problem, but it hasn't," Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.
"He will now have reconstructive surgery on that joint and that is likely to see him out for another eight to 10 weeks."
