Suspended: Cian Healy

Ireland prop Cian Healy has been banned until March 10 for stamping on Dan Cole's ankle during Sunday's defeat to England.

The 25-year-old will now miss the Six Nations trip to Scotland on 24 February and the home game against France on 9 March after being handed the suspension at a disciplinary hearing in London on Wednesday.

Healy trod on Cole's ankle after an Ireland maul had collapsed in an incident which was missed by referee Jerome Garces.

Although he was handed a three-week sentence, in effect the Leinster loosehead will serve a four-week ban since his suspension does not date from last Sunday's clash in Dublin, but only begins this weekend.

The Six Nations Disciplinary Committee decided that the player would not have played for his province this weekend and that the suspension will end at midnight on Sunday, March 10.

5 reduced to 3, for what to me looked like an on field yellow card, joke! When you look at majority of punishments handed out this is harsh. Not defending his actions but am so sick of the variety of punishments. On the plus side it will be good experience for Kilcoyne.

Disgraceful! Could have resulted in serious injury. Very lucky to be available for the Lions. Obviously a decision by yet another panel of idiots.

If he'd of actually broken his ankle, would it have been a longer ban?

And "Healy 'trod' on Cole's ankle" makes it sounds as though he 'trod' on a snail - he clearly intended to stamp on the ankle to hurt Cole...

How does it become effectively 4 weeks because it was not backdated to a weekend he played on?

Silly boy. Cole may have deserved a bit of slipper but that stamp has really hurt his team.

"Healy trod on Cole's ankle..."

No he didn't. He stamped on it.

3 weeks is about right, although I feel it's a bit on the lenient side. They obviously missed the rest, eh?!

He got a 3 week ban which is in line with the rules, it was 5 weeks mitigated to 3. But then shifted the end date to the 10th of March effectively making it a 4 week ban. They do make themselves look like fools sometimes. if it is a 3 week ban and that means it starts on sunday i hope Leinster play him this weekend and show it up for the farce it is.
