Peter Stringer: 'I can still cut it'
Peter Stringer insists he has lots to offer at the top level after an impressive cameo for Bath in the win over Exeter.
Scrum-half Stringer is on loan at the Rec for a couple of months after Michael Claasens broke his thumb, and he marked his first outing for the club with two tries after coming off the bench at Sandy Park just before half-time.
The Munster veteran had been struggling for playing time in the RaboDirect PRO12 and feels the move gives him the chance to prove that he can still cut it as he comes towards the end of a career that earned him 92 caps for Ireland.
"I still have that ambition and drive to play at the highest level," said Stringer.
"That's one of the reasons I was looking to come on loan somewhere and thankfully Bath came up with that opportunity and that's all I want to do - play and compete.
"I'm here for a couple of months. That's the loan agreement. If Munster need me, if there's an injury they can call me back.
"We knew we had to keep the ball and starve them of possession. That's all it needed - a bit of coolness and calm heads, be patient and when we got into these zones to come away with points.
"We have a big challenge again next week at Gloucester and hopefully we can build on today."

may not have the best running game, but he's the best passer of the last decade in my opinion and his box kicks have been great over the last season or two. great capture, surely some french club would be happy to give him a nice pay day

Stringer is a good short term option for Bath, but really they need a young talanted sh,to either cme from the acadamy or to come to the club.Might i suggest B.Spence at Saracens ,he proved he could live with the pace/ pressure of the AP a couple of seasoms ago, nowhe cant get a game, because Saracens regular top 2 SHs are fit.Maybe he would relish regular game time wth Bath,
