Goode injury concern for England

Shoulder injury: Alex Goode

Saracens boss Mark McCall revealed that Alex Goode's shoulder injury could rule him out of England's Six Nations opener.

Goode has not played for the club since December 16 and is now a doubt for the Calcutta Cup clash against Scotland at Twickenham.

The full-back impressed for England during the November Internationals and appeared set to retain the shirt despite the challenge from Ben Foden and Mike Brown, but his position is now in doubt.

"Alex has a tear in his shoulder," said Mark McCall to the Mirror.

"At the minute we are looking at a non-surgical route and there's a chance he could be fit in two or three weeks' time.

"But it all depends how his rehab goes over the next couple of weeks - and England may want him to play a game or two before they pick him."

Pierredelot1 - no, a factual response to your comment about English supporters 'crowing', Eddie Jones' remark about England being arrogant and responses from various posters to the Fourie report earlier, many of said responses blaming all 'Poms' for the immigration policy. As it turns out, Fourie may have been misinformed and he may not face deportation so we should wait to hear more facts. But my comments are in response to years of England haters wasting everyone's time with pointless vitriol. I guess it's frustration on my part. But one thing I'll never do - or if I do the posters here can pour scorn on my head till judgement day - is to criticise other nations' teams in response to the anti England brigade. I hope most people see most of my posts as balanced and fair. There's the occasional Widdecombe worship but you can all forgive me for that.

Another question kicking around in my oh so wooden brain is just what sort of French man uses phrases like 'methinks' and 'will they ever learn'.

APV1 - alles goed jonge ? Lekker kerst gehad ?

Seems my one man crusade to get more recognition for Tom Varndell has fallen on deaf ears. Instead we have Strettle. By what measure is Strettle a better winger than Varndell - please can someone explain this to me ?

Care, Burns, Biggs, Barritt, Tuilagi, Varndell, Brown to start against Scotland.

@ heart_of_oak - I agree. Personally I'm a terrible person and want everyone to die a slow and horrible death. These are the underlying principals my father taught me (even though he's Dutch, he grew up here and I'm English) and I have passed them onto my sons. And so it shall be.

Kill 'em all, let God sort 'em out!

Ben7 - why Wade ahead of Varndell ? Which one has scored more tries this season - or any other season ?

Kybone, let's face it, we're the most evil people ever to have walked the earth. Fourie faces deportation and all Poms are responsible for it and wicked to boot. Tuilagi walks over the line against the ABs and England are arrogant. How many of us are there ? 45 million - 50 million ? And we're all arrogant and we all set the immigration policy for England. Now a few people say we have strength in depth at full back and guess what - English supporters are crowing. A few days ago, when it was announced that Aurelien Rougerie might miss some of the 6 nations, I said, it wouldn't weaken the French back line because they (the French) had strength in depth at centre. If a French man had said this, would it have been ok or logical for me as an Englishman, to say 'the French supporters are crowing - will they never learn' ? I would never dream of making such a stupid remark.

It's hard to believe how prejudiced so many people are on this site.

pierredelot1- Who's crowing? I love this myth that we English spend all our time shouting about all the trophy's we're gonna win! I've read loads of posts about the 'English Crowing' since the win over the AB's, yet ,strangely, i haven't actually seen any of these crowing posts that they're refering to. Some people are so desperate to put us into that little English stereotype that they're either seeing things that aren't there or just plain making stuff up.

Wash your mouth out Melkdave. Armitage indeed. Not an overseas player and to suggest his form warrants a place playing for a club like Toulon. Bad form old boy

But pride comes before a fall and maybe one day Mr Lancaster will see sense, lets face it one swallow doesn't make a summer and too many English supporters are crowing already. Will they ever learn.

A shame for him but Brown would be my starting 15. A great chance to try some exciting wingers on the wing!

Luckily #15 is a position England are quite strong in at present

I hope his recovery is swift and full. But I'd still pick Brown ahead of him.
