Florian Ninard of Grenoble v London Welsh

Try for Grenoble: Florian Ninard

Bath all but sealed their place in the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals in Italy on Saturday while London Welsh were knocked out by Grenoble.

Gloucester moved clear at the top of Pool 1 after thrashing London Irish before the late game saw Perpignan move level on points with Worcester after beating the Warriors 13-6 in France.

Results:
Calvisano 5-39 Bath
London Welsh 13-27 Grenoble
Rovigo 10-16 Bizkaia Gernika RT
Gloucester 47-3 London Irish
Perpignan 13-6 Worcester Warriors

A hat-trick for Horacio Agulla and tries for Brett Sharman, Tom Biggs, Jack Cuthbert and Josh Ovens gave Bath their fourth bonus-point win of the campaign against Calvisano. Stephen Donald added two conversions to the final score, with a clinical performance from the visitors seeing the bonus point wrapped up by half-time.

London Welsh's loss to Grenoble at the Kassam Stadium leaves them 10 points adrift of Pool Five leaders Stade Français with just two games remaining. Grenoble hooker Laurent Bouchet scored a brace of first-half tries to make it 15-6 at the break. Florian Ninard scored early in the second half before Mike Denbee gave the home side hope as he grabbed a try. But Lotu Taukeiaho killed off any hopes of a comeback with a bonus-point try for Grenoble.

Shane Monahan's four tries were the highlight as Gloucester put London Irish to the sword. The six-try romp sees Gloucester open up a seven point gap at the top of Pool One with a trip to Bordeaux and home game against Mont de Marsan to come. Gloucester led 6-3 before two tries in final six minutes of the first half swung the game decisively. Irish were a spent force thereafter. Rob Cook and Dan Robson rubbed salt into the wounds as they added late tries.

The late game saw Perpignan move level on points with Worcester after recording a 13-6 win over the English side at Stade Aime-Giral. The only try of the game went to Richard Haughton while James Hook kicked eight points to Andy Goode's two penalties.

Its a shame, unless Gernika or Rovigo deny Perpignan a bonus point we don't go through even though we have the greater points difference. However I don't think our squad is big enough to compete in the HC yet, so its probably for the best.

@jmerthens: I suppose that as in lots of sites the tables here give the lead to the team with the best points difference by default - to complicated to deal with all the different systems in all competitions.

Why is Worcester ranked above USAP in the table?

If USAP collect the same amount of points from the last two games as Worcester they win the pool.
