Hartley to face hearing on Thursday

11th December 2012 17:01

SKY_MOBILE Dylan Hartley - Northampton

In the dock: Dylan Hartley

Northampton and England hooker Dylan Hartley will face a disciplinary hearing in Dublin on Thursday.

The Saints captain was cited for allegedly striking Ulster counterpart Rory Best with his arm during a Heineken Cup pool encounter at Franklin's Gardens last Friday.

European Rugby Cup has announced that Wales' Roger Morris has been appointed as independent judicial officer to hear the complaint against Hartley.

If found guilty, Hartely faces a ban of anything between two weeks for a low end entry point, to a maximum 52-week suspension.

Cardiff Blues and Wales scrum-half Lloyd Williams has also been summoned to appear in Dublin on Thursday after he received a red card for an alleged dangerous tackle against Montpellier two days ago.

And Dragons flanker Jevon Groves faces a Thursday hearing as well following his red card for an alleged dangerous tackle during his side's Amlin Challenge Cup victory over Italian side Mogliano last weekend.

Best is such a pro. Being attacked on the pitch and manages to keep his cool. Afoa also he could have come in swinging. Best was clearly returning to the play before being dragged down and assaulted by Hartley. The TJ saw it and it was weak officiation that he was not sent off. Chubbylungs could you tell me where you saw Best starting it i cant see anything.

The incident is on rugby dump. Hartley only reacts to best who seemed to start the trouble by swinging an arm or two Harley's way. No citing for best however. Strange

Problem is that Dylan is too easily wound up. A clever palyer like Rory Best who is always an Angel along with Steven Feiss get away with their indiscressions . So Come on Dylan Skill alwaays wins and Saints Play Better with him than without him. We should rest all our first team squad and make sure we have a full injure free sqaud for the Quins game as Ulster and the other Irish teams do for important games and use their bigger squads to hold up their automatic quqlification to the Heneken Cup . But Having Said all that Ulsters defence looks sound lets hope it stays intacked for the later rounds against either Munster or Lenstier.

ArmchairGeneral..... absolutely pointless comment. It's like you've meant to post on another article.

Ferdie/Hermes - great points.

In reference to the hearing, shouldn't be on a Thursday but this guy will be banned anyway. A forearm smash to the head is a ban - his record will probably see him get longer than most would.

This lack of discipline is exactly why I wouldn't have him in the England squad. And Jim Mallinder said before he was a potential England Captain..... lay off the booze Jim.

thoroughly over rated player, most of all by himself.

and a deeply unpleasant individual in person off the pitch.

and a liability for any team.

be best for everyone of the ban was very long.

ArmchairGeneral

and I'm unsure opf your point, if you have one.

'NZ born and bred'. Yes he was born there, lived there till age 15, did he even play schoolboy rugby there? And has for bred - are you referring to his English mother?

And your point re Hore and Mealamu?

Hore has never had a red card in his playing career. Ever. Should have had one for the Wales match imo, but didn't. Worst offence in recent years a yellow in 2011 for Hurricanes for intentionally knocking the ball down.

Again, what is your point? Anything? What has NZ rugby got to do with a child born there to an English parent - don't see how the NZRU is somehow responsible for this one?

I have no time for this thug. Was on the receiving end when he was underage. But for any team or squad a Thursday hearing is a joke. If a citing is not upheld then it disturbed preparation for the next match. Don't care in this case but as a rule it is not ideal.

Is this the same NZ born and bred Dylan Hartley as in the article yesterday? That plays hooker same as Hore and Mealamu?? I'm not sure because the PR article did not mention his heritage as usual? Don't mean to labor my point though. Just checking?
