New deal: Graham Kitchener

Leicester Tigers second-rower Graham Kitchener has agreed a new contract with the club for an undisclosed amount of time.

Kitchener, 23, moved to Welford Road in the summer of 2011 after making 70 appearances for Worcester Warriors and has now played 25 first-team games for Tigers. He has made 11 starting appearances this season, a figure unbeaten in the Leicester squad.

A member of the England Saxons squad, Kitchener went on England's summer tour to South Africa last year and played in both midweek fixtures.

"I've really enjoyed my time with Leicester Tigers so far and I'm happy to agree to stay with the club," said Kitchener.

"I played in an Aviva Premiership Final and LV= Cup Final in my first season here and I've also played in the Heineken Cup. I think I've learned a lot in my time at Leicester and I'm looking forward to continuing to develop my game here in the future."

"Graham is an ambitious young player and has come into a very competitive environment here because he wants to be the best player he can," said Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill.

"He has settled in very well here, he has taken on extra responsibility in his role in the squad and we look forward to watching his continued development in coming years."

It's great that England has so many promising players in this position, and of different styles too - Launchbury and Lawes, Attwood and Robson, Parling and Kitchener, and I'm sure there will be others putting their hands up over the next few years too.

Bring him in for Mo botha in the white jersey, he's been brilliant so far and it'll add some much needed impetus for the 3 potential starting second rows (Launchbury, Parling and Lawes) to up their game.

Great player who'll benefit greatly from Leicester's environment. A future England player and in my eyes has surpassed Attwood in the perking order.

Good news for Leicester and hopefully England ,myself i would like to see him in an extended 6Ns EPS for 2013 .With the draw we have for 2015 ,we are going to need quite a few top class players who can play at the highest leval Imo G.Kitchener is one of those who can/will be able to deliver at the hihest leval.Though we do have depth atm ,with Robson ,Botha ,Launchbury,Lawes,Attwood,Parling ect.

Only 23, it feels like he has been around for ages, England have a lot of depth in the engine room at the moment
