Agen: Outplayed after the break

Perpignan turned it on in the second half to race to a comprehensive 39-13 Top 14 win over Agen, ending a two-game losing streak in the process.

The hosts looked to be in control during the first half at the Stade Aime Giral after a try from centre David Marty and the boot of James Hook took Perpignan into a 14-0 lead.

But Agen hit back thanks to tries from full-back Raphael Lagarde and centre Miguel Avramovic, to stay in the contest and head into the half-time sheds 14-13 behind.

However, Perpignan shut out Agen in the second half through Hook's boot before wing Farid Sid and scrum-half Florian Cazenave put the result beyond doubt with a try apiece in a five-minute spell.

Hooker Guilhem Guirado sealed the deal after touching down for his side's fourth try in the 76th minute.

The bonus-point win lifts Perpignan to seventh on the Top 14 standings table while Agen suffered their sixth defeat on the trot and occupy 12th spot.

Agen were a trifle unlucky: their goalkickers were third division level (how can a man completely mess a place kick and then drop a beautiful goal?) and two of the Perpignan tries were very dubious (Marty shielded by a fake runner and Cazenave blatantly offside) but you can't win top 14 matches without a decent front row.
