Wallabies aim to attack - Palu

Palu: Learnt from loss to France

Australia are determined to continue with their enterprising style of play when they face Italy in Florence on Saturday.

That is the word from Wallabies number eight Wycliff Palu who said they can't play safety-first rugby if they want to beat their hosts.

The Wallabies learnt a valuable lesson about the dangers of being one dimensional on attack in their 33-6 loss to France in Paris two weeks ago.

They changed their game-plan, with great success, to claim a deserved 20-14 win over England at Twickenham last week and Palu believes they must pick up where they left off in that match if they want to claim back-to-back wins.

"It's hard to build something if you keep going backwards every couple of weeks," he told AAP.

"We're really working hard on trying to change things up a bit in attack and trying to create some stress for our opposition.

"We don't want to fall into bad habits and become one dimensional.

"Everyone was disappointed with the France game but you learn from it.

"But you don't dwell on games you've played, that goes for the England game too. It doesn't matter that we won last week."

Palu expects Italy to attack with their usual physical approach. The Azzurri's forwards impressed in their 42-10 defeat to the All Blacks in Rome last Saturday.

They trailed the world champions 13-7 at half-time and were still holding their own after the break before New Zealand scored three tries in the final 13 minutes

"We need to come out hard and make a statement early against the Italians," said Palu.

"We also need to be mindful they are a team who feeds off mistakes and bad discipline."

a cynic might laugh at that headline.

Is attack the new Wallabies plan? This could indeed be the missing link for them in their flawed game plan.

'we forgot to attack'

For all that, expect them ahead by 20.
