Ireland were dealt another injury blow on Monday when it was confirmed that neither Paul O'Connell nor Stephen Ferris will play against Argentina on November 24th.
According to Ireland team manager Mick Kearney, Ulster flank Ferris has "significant ankle ligament damage", ruling him out of the November internationals.
O'Connell has been unable to shake off a back injury that prevented him from running out against the Springboks and joins fellow stalwarts Brian O'Driscoll, Rory Best, Rob Kearney and Sean O'Brien on the sidelines for the game against the Pumas.
Leinster scrum-half Eoin Reddan is also in doubt for Saturday's non-cap clash with Fiji and will see a specialist this week after bruising an ankle.
Ulster's Paul Marshall has been called in as cover.

this game against argentina is only relevant if scotland beat south africa next weekend, frankly it would be a good game to see new combinations. try paddy jackson at 10 or 12 with sexton, bowe at 13(earls is a winger)gilroy at wing in place of trimble who is one dimensional.henderson at lock. we need to blood these younger guy's for the future. lets be fair if BOD and POC make it on the lions, they will probably quit after that.?????????????

Glad to see Marshall will get a run and bad news about ferris.
Ireland's best forward and a definite for the Lions if fit!
Two developments on the Irish front
1. McCarty made it into the internationfl
team of the week. Well done!!!
2. Ireland dropped below Argentina in world rankings
- down from 7th to 8th. The dreaded third tier ranking
(9-12) now seems unlikely unless miracles happen in Scotland!
