ABs would have beaten the pumas 60 nill and the boks 40 nill.

You've obviously not watched Argentina play much rugby. No doubt NZ should beat them fiarly comfortably, but I'd be absolutely shocked if they put 50 points on them! Argentina are remarkably good at controlling possession and their defence is decent (at worst).

Similar question as to why you think such an inept display of finishing (and handling errors in general) would have put 40 points on a SA side that actually have a decent defence. I actually thought New Zealand were very disappointing given the opposition that was put in front of them.

Australia sit bottom of the Championship table on zero points partly because they have played New Zealand but also because they have been appalling, especially in attack.

@kiwilad - mate jonesy2 is one of your lot, please do not inflict him on us. The Boks will only beat the Wallabies if they play like they did in the S15, they have no chance at all while playing their current Bulls brand.

Honest, sorry PR should read Semi-honest, Agree with irishaussie, we weren't clinical at all. Seems like our game plan was - close the gates, lock the doors and secure all fences - don't attack, it's too risky just defend, defend, defend. Let's bring on the most volatile flyhalf in the world so we have to commit even more defenders at the expense of utilising our attacking ability.

Sorry Will but honest would have been "We got touched up and taught 80 minutes of lessons in the game. No more to add."

We have always been recognised for our superb attack and wonderful running backs - this is our brand, bring it bask ASAP. Oh yes, almost forgot my manners - PLEASE.

I like the way you are thinking Jonsey2, even if I disagree entirely.

I think the Boks will tear your lot up...

@ Ferdie... it's not about liking or not liking a player. It's about the team. At this level players should be professionals and not out of date clowns.

... even the Aussie commentators thought that it was a real big positve for the Wallabies that the All Blacks could only score 3 p;oints when Genia was off the field! You'd think the Wallabies had won the way they commented on that!!

The All Blacks made many errors! Got to get their act together soon!!

just to summarise, georgesmith - you're saying you don't like nathan sharpe?

again and again . . .

for first time thought he looked 'over it' in this test. apart from the nilling record, at a record 20 losses to nz he's a clear winner there, now two ahead of campese on 18. can reach 21 if he plays in october

@georgesmith is Nathan Sharpe married to your sister or something. Get over it mate what a pathetic attack on a long serving, loyal and fantastic player over the years. Sure he might be a touch slower but he is there because you have know one else, you cannot put 15 newbies (even if you had them) on to play the AB's, looked what happened when you introduced just a couple last night. You make all the Kiwi QC haters sound almost saintly - you are a joke.

"They are the benchmark."

We sure are Robbie, thats why we have that little golden cup, and if SA play like they did today against the Pumas, they too will be schooled!!!!

georgesmith says...

N.Sharpe was ugly. Easily the worst Wallabies performer along with D. Dennis. N.Sharpe just didn¿t have the legs or gas to match the pace in the second half and was twice ¿rightfully penalized¿ by the referee. He gifted D. Carter six (6) points and during the try scored by Israel Dagg, N. Sharpe was caught in the background catching thin air and even disrupting a few would-tacklers, who could have even stopped the try from being scored. In defence he was easily caught out of position when ABs made angled runs and targeted him. Overall a very lazy performance by N.Sharpe. During a line-out, he had no energy and was easily penalized for lazy play. Do we really need such a veteran player or is it time to put faith in the future and players like R. Simmons. Coach R. Deans and N.Sharpe should be ashamed and put on trial for denying such a young player valuable game time. At least N.Sharpe should have been replaced 10 minutes into the second half and R. Simmons been introduced. But no, R. Deans was not bright enough for such a call or bold. I think the crazy coach was expecting N.Sharpe to make a break on the 50m and sprint to the tryline to get Wallabies back in it.

With an over-rated veteran, mediocre and lazy player like N.Sharpe, it has always been about him and what he achieved as an individual in terms of Test caps.

So what now? Do we give R. Simmons a deserved break from next week or we continue with N.Sharpe, hoping to win so we can say, it has been a happy, positive farewell for the hopeless N.Sharpe and that he is a great. I wouldn¿t be surprised. Reality is N.Sharpe is no hero or role model. He is a villain with a less than 10 per cent winning record in Test rugby.

Lynagh said something that may prove pivotal in Robbie's future (even though I still maintain that you can't Australia's woes solely on Deans) He said that things won't let up on the wallabies with the Lions coming over next June, and that is important for the ARU they won't want to be humilated and they certainly don't want to be chopping the team about under a new coach just before the series kicks off. So personally I reckon the aru will either sack deans in the next week or so, or they'll back him through to the Lions tour next year.

meldave - i think both tonight's scrums may struggle v sa. for nz retallick, romano, whitelock should be round for years and have a lot to learn and will improve. been a big fan of nathan sharpe over the years but tonight i thought he looked like he wished he'd gone ahead with his plans to retire, great player but maybe one season too far - but then that shows how thin the wallabies depth is. i watched an itm game today taranaki's hoeta and eaton both former abs would i think be well better than anything oz has to offer as backup.

SACanuck says...

They sure are the benchmark, but Deans should know better than anyone that you do not give possession to the AB backs. You are just asking for trouble. It amazes me that the Wallabies kicked away good ball. The Boks will do the same stupid game plan and get the same result. Their is only one way to beat this AB team and that is not to give them the ball on a platter. If they don't have the ball they cannot score!!

melkdave says...

Taught a lesson in test rugby, and imo the ABs didnt play at their best either. At least WG is honest .They will have to play alot better against the bokke or they to will win easily. At least they now have 2 weeks to try and rectify the problems .Forwards not dynamic enough, and failing to provide any kind of decent ball.Backs not being incisive or creative when they have the ball .Sounds simply doesnt it ,but i dought they will solve those two problems totally in just 2 weeks.Scrum is a major worry against a massive bokke pack, even without BdP,and their intensity is way down ,which the bokke wil exploit big time with those big running forwards. In fact the only bright points for the wallabies atm ,is the bokke troubles at the breakdown ,and their limited gameplan imo.So if your a wallby fan prey they dont solve the breakdown problem ,or become more creative, and unleah some backplay.
