Can someone, anyone tell me why the so called rugby journalists are not reflecting the mood of most of the rugby players/supporters in Ireland? Is it because they are so far up Kidneys backside that they are not registering the thoughts and wishes of the country? These so called rugby journalists who largely have no idea of the concept and ethos of rugby are so sycaphantic that their 'rugby reports' are largely meaningless Take Farrrelly from the Independant. I remember one article from him criticising the committee members because the players allowed the committee members wives to take the lift first in the team hotel! I kid you not. When I wrote a letter taking Farrelly to task, the independent refused to print it. I was applauding the players for remembering their manners and allowing the ladies to go first. So not only do we have to get rid of Kidney and his coaches but also journalists such as Farrelly!

Complacency probably did account for the AB's poor showing in the second test, but it what was evident at the end of the match was that Ireland had given their all and it was not good enough to be fair.
You could say that it was the end of a long hard season for the Irish guys and that some of their top players were missing... but in the final test the AB's introduced some new faces whilst missing some of their best players through injury and retirement.
The gulf in pace, intensity, accuracy and skill was huge... in the second test Ireland just out passioned the complacent Kiwis and still lost. Firmly believe that currently the gap between Ireland and New Zealand is just as big as it has always been.

The recent NZ-Ire was marked by bouts of arrogance and stupidity. Firstly, the ABs having coasted through the 1st test, rather arrogantly thought that little preparation was needed for the 2nd test. Ireland, whi had by now got their ac together caught them on the hop and almost got that long-awaited victory. Now, after the 2nd test, the Irish burst out into full-scale stupidity - "we nearly did it that time, lads, more of the same and we''ll take them for sure next week"!
The rest is history!

well unfortunetly for for him and the people who were hyping up how good he and some of his collegues are i was right all along and he got taught lessons by the very best. its fine to hype up players in the euro and uk comps when comparing against each other in the same relm eg im sure the irish and england players etc are stars in up there but dont think that makes then so when they come down here. anyway lesson learnt. however keep in mind this is more a lesson for the supporters i think the players themselves know where they stand

In test two Ireland nearly pulled off one of their passion filled victories... yes they restricted the ABs in Christchurch to a certain extent, but realistically in test one and three when the Kiwis played with pace, accuracy and power Ireland were not at the races.
For me there is core of Irish fans who seem to think that just because Irish sides have more or less dominated European rugby that the are athe top table when it comes to the test arena, but the proof is in the pudding really. Kearney who looks fantastic week in week out for Leinster and was one of the better performing Irish players was made to look ordinary at times. Earls is just not a test quality player.

The Irish players are good enough, on other boards I've given my views as to why I think that and as to why they haven't performed under O' Sullivan and Kidney. We proved in test 2 against the All blacks we have the players, even though we were missing some our top players. We lost test 2 because the ethos, structure and coaching skills aren't of high enough a standard to add that extra ingredient a team gets when these supports are in place. That extra ingredient is firstly faith in those support mechanisms which leads to "belief" which Ireland simply didn't have to finish the AB's off in test 2. That lack of "belief" was missing before we even left for NZ. It was evident in captain, Brian O' Driscoll's words to the press before the first test where he said that he "hoped" they could win "a" test and went on to say that "one day in the future we'll beat NZ". The NZ press picked up on this and said of his words that they didn't inspire much confidence.
Contrast this to Leinster, who if a best of Europe team was picked would only get about 4 on that team. Yet they can play consistantly, accurately and crucially with a low error count and win. Why? because they have "total belief" in the ethos, structures, tactics and team spirit Joe Schmidt has installed in the Leinster set-up. When these players go to the Irish set-up it is evident that they obviously are going to a set-up that is way below what they experience at Leinster, hence there's no belief as proved by O'Driscoll's unintentional revelation at that press meeting.

Has it ever crossed your mind that the bulk of the Irish players are just not good enough at the highest level?
Ireland once in a blue moon put a big passion filled performance out there, but they are quite inconsistent.

Besides the adverse effect stupid Lions Tours have on the NH psyche, here's an example of why NH teams fail when going south, On these boards we see Rob Howley of Wales saying he is "proud of his troops" after a 3-0 drubbing by Australia and further up Pierre Spies is saying "we let ourselves down" after winning the series and thumping England in 2 tests and drawing the last test......IT REALLY SAYS IT ALL!

Kearneys right to reflect on a disappointing season ,but then its been a disappointing couple of seasons really.Having just scraped a grand slam in 09 Ireland havent produced anything consistently at all,.The odd good /excellant match is not a very good return, considering the class of alot of players.Where does the fualt lie ,well quite squarely on the coaches and IRFU .To think that Ireland didnt have a specialist scrum coach during the RWC /6Ns and earlier in this day and age speaks volumes, and as far as i know that vacancy still isnt filled??That Kidney isnt an internatinal class coach should be obvious now and he along with his staff should GO,also the IRFU needs a shake up ,they are to complacent with failure and seem to think only the Hieneken Cup matters, and truth be told that success has been bult on imported players imho JDV,Mafi,Elsom ect ect.So with that in mind heres a squad for the aurtumn
1)C.Healey / T.Court
2)R,Best /S.Cronin
3)M.Ross /D.Fitzpatrick
4)D.Tuohy /D.Tone
5)D.Ryan /R.Caldwell / POC
6)S.Ferris//Rudduck
7)O'Mahony /C.Henry
8)SOB / J.Heaslip
9)E.Reddan /P.Marshal/I.Boss
10)J.Sexton /Jackson /Madigan
11)Gilroy/ D.Kearney
12)J.Downey /J.Halloran
13) T.Bowe /A.Trimble / BOD
14)K.Earls /S.Zebo
15)R.Kearney /F.McFaddan
i know radiical having POC and BOD as 3 rd choice in their posistions ,but they are there to add experiance and passion more than anything else on the pitch ,and to pass on knowlege .Time really for the golden genaration to fade quitely away now ,while theyare still considered golden,a few more years of mediorocity and that would be in danger imho

Kidney talks about not getting too excited by wins or too panicked by losses. This approach has obviouslystopped working as Ireland are in a dangerous cycle of having one good performance followed by a poor one. Declan, thanks for the dance, you've done a reasonable job and delivered a grand slam. Now is the time to move on to new pastures. Your reign is now like the fag end of the O'Sullivan era, please take Paddy Wallace with you on the way out.

Kearney's words about the tests: "All three of them went against us but that's sport and we have to move on." ...Just shows that the underachieving mentality of the coach is in his head, aw shucks, "that's sport" and we "have to move on", the cute Kidney mantra after 3 years of failure, there's alway tomorrow. And the IRFU encouraged this and allow this!!! Pure Bulls*it!
Kearney should be saying, "Our performance as a team was totally and utterly unacceptable and we are going to have to do something about it urgently."

I've posted the reasons I believe are causing the Irish malaise on the "Ireland Thumped" board...very simply, both Kidney and his predecessor, Eddie O' Sullivan were never up to the Irish job. The evidence of underachievement is plain to see and proven...60-0 to NZ has to be totally unacceptable to any Irish fan...Ireland need to get rid of Kidney immediately and find a SH coach and his team before the autumn series which will give a bit of time for a new coach to prepare for the 2013, 6 Nations.
If a new coach isn't appointed before the autumn series I am not going to go to or watch any Irish international matches until Declan Kidney is gone! That's a promise!!!

I'm not sure why players' comments are reported. Most frequently they have little to contribute and they never admit to having personally played badly - it's all "we" and "us" and the "rub of the green" stuff!
Let's just look how Ireland has performed since the 2011 6N tournament:
Played 18:
Won : 6 (Aust, Ital x 2, Scot, USA, Russia)
Draw: 1
Loss: 11 (Scot, Fra x2, Wal x 2, Eng x 2, BaBas, NZ x 3)
Barring the exceptional win against Australia at the RWC (upon which we still appear to be dining out), Ireland has failed to defeat any team ranked higher in the IRB standings.
I would describe that as a very poor 12 months indeed! So bad, in fact, that we are drifting into the 4th division IRB grouping:
1st: NZ (way ahead in points)
2nd: Aust, SA
3rd: Wal, Eng, Arg, Fra
In-between: Ire
4th; Samoa, Scot, Tonga, Ital
Maybe we as Irish fans are collectively happy about that - I most certainly am not!

I really don't think it is Kearney or any players fault. It has to be Kidney. Look at how magnificent the Leinster team has been for the last few seasons and yet once they put on an Irish jersey they just can't do it. Kidney doesn't know how to manage them. He will not let them run the expansive game they thrive on. Time for Kidney to go.

People (not just players and coaches) keep harping on about small margins. Small margins dont result in a sixty thrashing. That was a huge margin. Small margins result in narrow losses or victories. The second test was all about narrow margins "The top 2%" if you will. The other two tests were huge margins. NZ had these margins and we didn't. It wasnt an extra 5% for either side it was more like an extra 25% for each side and resulted in us getting schooled.
