I honestly think Leinster are sorted in the backs, I'd worry about second row but not the backs. Upcoming centres ready to slot in O' Malley, Macken, McFadden, then theres another 5/6 that can play there. Wings: d Kearney, Carr, Conway and again another few that can slot in. Ful;l back: apparently Dave Kearneys preffered position, maybe he'll start to alternate with Rob a la Boss and Redser. Outhalves: Madigan and Reid (but I think a move to centre for Reid would suit him). Scrumhalves: Bit tight but McGrath looks to be absolute class, he'll start to get a few appearances off the bench in the Rabo next season
Then not to mention O'Shea Gilsenan and Hudson
If there's one thing they're doing well in Leinster it's developing young players the only problem is getting them exposure to big games

just read this story on the beeb.
D'arcy 32, Macewa 30, Boss 32, Cullen 34, Reddan 32.
I agree that these players will probably be winning games for Leinster for at least another season but two seasons? Surely the province needs to start bringing out younger players, especially in the backs where the midfield (quality though it may be) is getting a little long in the tooth.
The risk being that they all end up retiring at the same time.

@ adamk
Agree with you on Fitzgerald! Missed him in my roll call of the overlooked!

Good luck to him in Leinster colours, but he has no merit in the green than paddy wallace does anymore! We have a wealth of 12 and 13 talent across the provinces most of which is underexperienced at test level. Spence, Cave, mc Fadden, Madigan, Earls (provincial aside everyone should admit he fared alright in the 6N) even Murphy is worth a shot.
Why not use O'Driscoll switching between 12 and 13 on different games to take some of this talent by the hand. We know he can play both positions at a world class level and seeing as he has only a couple of seasons left on the field use the guy on the field as a coach. I am pretty sure it would not distract him from delivering the class we normally expect, he would lead by doing and give confidence to young talent alongside him.
I resign myself to the fact that Darcy will be on the plane to NZ, along with Wallace ( christ maybe even both of them) and many of the aforementioned options along with the likes of Henry, Fitzpatrick, Zebo, Ruddock, Tuohy, Gilroy etc will be left behind.
However as long as the IRFU keep selecting him, we cant blame Darcy. We can ask him to pull his finger out and stay focused for 80 minutes, tackle on Fofana or not, there is at least one occasion in most test games where you find his channel wide open or a clumsy spill costs us good momentum. Great servant but not at the races anymore.

I'm a Leinster fan and I'd agree with mcdb06. Whilst Darce has been great in a Leinster shirt over the past two seasons, he's been mediocre at best in a green shirt. Why are the IRFU offering someone like that a central contract? Surely he should be given a provincial contract alone.
It's amazing when you think about it, as I write this currently the whole Luke Fitzgerald thing is being handled appallingly. He's only 25, is coming back into the best form of his life, and is only going to get better. Yes we have a wealth of Irish wingers, but none as versatile as Luke or none that has the 'x factor' that he possess. Yes he had a bad year in 2011, and then was denied a place due to injury, but as I said before, he's only 25 and is only going to get better in the same way Kearney has.
And then to top it all off, the IRFU give DENIS LEAMY a two year central contract!! He's not going to be NEAR a first choice backrow. What are the IRFU at?

Disaster, so much talent in Leinster surely Darcy needs to move to France?

@sextons_on_fire Given ur username and ur previous posts its clear u are no more than a bandwagon fan. A troll at best. U know nothing of rugby. And it's well know D'arcy has been underperforming for years at international level. 7 tries in 68 caps, useless. Fofana cocked up that try, D'arcy didnt save Leinster. Get ur head out of ur ass

He's had one great game this season and that was Clermont. D'Arcy has been a great player for Ireland and Leinster but you just get the feeling he is now past his peak and experience and knowledge isn't going to cover for a fall off in pace and drop in the physical skills. I hate to see players of his skills go on too long. Just get the feeling that he's put off the inevitable.

Don't listen to the Munster trolls, Gordon. That last-ditch tackle on Fofana is proof that you're still number one!

Why are the IRFU offering him a central contract when he's in his 30s and off form at international level for 3 seasons? Cant try new players no? Suits at the IRFU are thick as pig sh*t
