@DaveJ and Paddy91317,
All right, you managed to come 3rd in this 6N while we came 4th, what an achievement. Now if you really want to compare the results of the 2 national teams in let's say the last 25 years (WC, test matches, 6N), please feel free. I am happy to listen to you :)

froggy73 - Ireland 17 - 17 France, a game that Ireland threw away. So if we are "the bottom", what are you? Oh wait, we also finished above you in the 6 nations table. Shock horror!! Idiot.

Not meaning to offend any one.... but I agree a lot with Bones7 and nabberuk. Some of the propaganda around this Leinster team is too much. Rosbif is in a funny position but too smart to argue with (!) although howrtings and DropZone62 are both right - Sexton cannot be criticised for things said by his coach. Leinster_goy knows his team very well and is passionate, as we can read on all his posts. louis77 and Paddy91317 need to relax and learn to recognise the victory against Clermont has an element of luck - and that's ok - any victory within one score has some luck in it. And maybe acept they were wrong about Rosbif!
Barnes needs to go back to ref school.
Joubert pls for the final.
Happy days ahead for Irish rugby!!

@Paddy91317. I think we're broadly in agreement. ST were beaten fairly by Edinburgh. I didn't whinge. Leinster beat ASM fairly. I didn't whinge. ST have had luck in the past in their HCup winning years (and some bad luck too along the way - Pointrenaud vs Wasps?) That's the nature of luck. ASM are my least favoured team in France. I really wanted Leinster to beat them by a lot. They didn't. They sneaked home. Who cares? Non-one. Certainly not me! Semis are all about the result. Barnes was poor. Leinster had some luck. Kearney could go for that drop goal 10 times and get it just once. Fofana cld try to ground that ball 10 times and fail just once. ASM lost key players to injury early on. So what. That's sport.
Where we differ is the following: there may have been some lexical ambiguity in my posts, but rather than read them, you simply assumed I was an ASM fan crying about the ref. Then, once presented with the facts, you still seem to want to cling onto your original idea that I must be a whinger, because ST have had luck in the past. I'm afraid, that rather makes me think you are stubborn, and/or a little too concerned that no-one suggest Leinster were lucky.
My view as a neutral (and as an ST fan who has been on the losing end many many times at Stade MM) is that you are somewhat underestimating just how remarkable it is to beat ASM at home. Play that game 20 times, and you'll lose it 19 times. So, the natural reaction on winning would be of humility and grace. I'm afraid it was the same when you snuck a draw against Montpellier earlier in the season with the last kick of the game.
We're told how "history remembers winners" and "losers are whingers". Well, speak to any winner you like, and you'll find most have lost 49% of the time. Treasure your victories, yes, but remember Kipling's twin imposters.
Peace.

Bones7.......smugness applies to teams that say one thing an do another. Dominating both the Celtic & European Leagues is what the team is doing and doing it in style. This was in effect the Final! There was little between these two but Leinster were the better team for 3 out of the 4 quarters (look at the territory). Cleremont were very lucky O'Brien decided to kick instead of mowing the last player down to score a try. Teams make there own luck! Here's to making the European Final a local derby all Irish affair. Ulster could upset yet! which would be great for Irish rugby. Get two strong coaches into Munster and the National side and let the party roll on! :)

sexton never said anythin' about this try, schmidt gave him praise and sexton humbly kept shut his mouth and took the praise, so you can stop your jokes...

@rosbif toulouse never turned up in edinburgh to be reffed out of a game so there is no way you can moan about that ok leinster got lucky but how many times have toulouse got lucky when winning four heiniken cups. Leinster had a few opportunities to wrap that game up and were harshly done out of a penalty kick because of a dodgy camera angle bar 20-40min and the last 4 minutes clermont never looked like scoring
@froggy73 oh dam im sorry you got me there france were a differant class in this 6nations, beating us at home was very hard to take this year seeing as our coach is brilliant at motivating and selecting our best players(sarcastic note) its very frustrating seeing the final 6n table with france so high above us ! Oh wait something is wrong with that paragraph

@Paddy91317. I must be the most misunderstood poster in the history of misunderstood posters! I'm from Toulouse. I have spent much of my 43 years in and around the set-up at ST. We have been clashing with ASM for years. They are our biggest bogey team at the moment. I was desperate for Leinster to thrash them, to really put them in their place. Regrettably, the victory was far from emphatic. But, to show you just how mean our spirits are in Toulouse, we are now taking pleasure in the irony of ASM being reffed out of a game, as are the Toulon fans and many others. ASM have been accused of buying refs in Top14 for years. Like ST were in the past. ASM are the next French superpower. As with most hegemons, they are defined in large part by being hated in their own country......
What part of that makes me an ASM fan, a whinger, or suffering from sour grapes?

@rosbif you are the reason i love planetrugby ha ha leinster into the final again ahhhhhhhh sour grapes much buddy. Your making this victory so much better than it already is! Oh i saw all those leinster infringments too but guess what barnes didnt :) . I personally think he is a brilliant ref

@howrtings. good call - fair point!
@louis77. not whining - apologies if it comes across that way - i could dwell on the countless ASM cynical moments (is there a team anywhere in the world whose players dive more frequently?) but I haven't seen the article yet with Cotter, Rougerie Parra etc moaning about the loss - when it comes out, I'll be all over it :)
Posted 11:28 30th April 2012
howrtings says...
@ leinster_goy: Do you have some sort of impediment preventing you from spelling surnames fully?
Also @ Rosbif: Nowhere in the article does it claim that Sexton was taking the glory for this, it was Schmidt's interview - so i'd suggest laying off Sexton - the lad didn't open his mouth!!

Bones7 says...
I agree Rosbif, I can't stand the smugness oozing out of this Leinster team and it makes watching this team that play fantastic rugby just so intolerable! I was hoping Clermont would knock them down a peg but it was not to be. I don't see what's so special about a 10 calling a move that a try is scored from? Any decent 10 at any level will call the moves and the best moves will score tries, it's as simple as that. They degrade a good player by heaping praise on him for doing a pretty basic job.

@ rosbif whos gona remember claremont / barnes in 3 weeks time, thats right my friend no one, history only remembers winners so whine away and see you next year ! you whine on every post i've read today get over it, you were beaten fair and square. the man I feel sorry for today is fofana , he has had an amazing year and he probably should have capped it off with a Cup medal had he got the ball down !

oooops. just looked at tape again for the leinster try. it's not a knock-on advantage barnes calls. its a pen advantage. ASM assume its for SOB diving straight over BOD on the floor to seal off the ball at ruck. instead its against ASM player for not rolling away. then barnes misses the fwd pass to kearney. though its literally under his nose.
once again, i'm not saying leinster shouldn't have won the game. but sexton claiming glory for a dubious try is beyond self-satisfied. if it's so easy to call a move for a try, why did he not call any others? in the entire 80??
Posted 09:36 30th April 2012
Rosbif says...
Hmmm, did Sexton call for Barnes to stand in the way, obstructing ASM players, after bamboozling them with a knock-on call then waiving play-on??? Check the tape lads. Most of the ASM players hesitate/stop to look at Barnes. And before we all jump in with "always play to the whistle", imagine if the ref was Chinese, waiving his arms about playing weird advantages......you think the Leinster players wldn't have hesitated, even just a little??
And there's a try, right there. Small margins indeed. Sexton (fine player that he is) might show a little humility methinks. Fofana's (missed) try more finely constructed imo....
