Scrap the Ba-bas, it's the pro era now. We might as well have meaningful tests against minnow nations

I for one dont think the Barbarains are out of date they are usually decent games and act as tour warm ups for the British sides .,Much the same as the pacifiic island teams have done for the SH test sides in the summer and as warm up matches for the SH sides in the aurtum.So what if they are a scratch side made up of retiring legends and youngsters .Who wouldnt want to be able to say i played with the likes of S.Williams and other legends such as B.Botha ect when your just starting your career.They also offer an oppotunity for fans to say farwell and honour some great players from around the world such as V.Matfield last year.It also allows ex internationals such as Afora ect to still show they can cut it even if they arnt eligable for the national jersey any more .If the players want to play for the Barbarains then long may it continue

@GCP-Jones
You know you make some really good points, but honestly The Lions and the Barabrians are two parts of rugby tradition that needs to stay alive. The Southern Hemesphire teams the Lions play are almost always #1,2,or 3 in the world and that is what makes the tour such a spectacle, Euro All-Stars vs the best a country has to offer.
The Barabrians too are a great tradition. A motley crew side of the old and the young brought together to test themselves against tough competition. Makes for wonderful hiatus from traditonal games and are incredibly exciting to watch.
Most of us love it, don't be a spoilsport.

The two Barbarians matches against England and Wales last year were great: they won both with last second tries...

As I have said in previous posts on the subject (especially the Lions), they will play against weakened Super teams because Robbie Deans will insist on having his Wallabies squad in camp, the ARU will charge huge prices for the tests as South Africa did and it will exclude a lot of people as a result, the players will come back from it knackered and won't feature for their clubs until the Heineken cup in mid-october.
If its such a great tradition why not play against the Pumas, Figi,Tonga , Samoa. if they have to play why not just 1 test in each country I mentioned. Its another example of the jaded nature and backward thinking of International rugby.
As another poster has mentioned the Pro12 final is the Saturday before Ireland play the Baa Baa's in Gloucester, Yeah right thats gonna be a great spectacle, can anyone remember whens the last time they seen an enjoyable match featuring the Barbarians?.
Peoples views of the Baa Baas are tinted because of memories of THAT TRY but jaysus that was in the early 70's

@GCP_JONES:
The Lions don't belong to a bygone era, The Lions series is always eagerly anticipated for years in advance and never fails to disappoint. Admitedly 05 wasn't great but 09 and 13 was and will be epic.
As for the Baa baas, they should also be in the same category. But the quality of the players for and against isn't what it should be. Something should be done to change it because it is still a great idea. Maybe small tournaments or something?

@ GCP_JONES - they don't. They're a great spectacle and wonderful to watch. You do0n't have to watch them or follow the results. But I will be.
