totally agree Lawynd.
I'm not even sure if Youngs deserved a week. You'll have players hvaing a go at him all the time now. The rugby authorities have just declared open season on Ben Youngs. What a bunch of idiots.

@ pantreac - further to that if you take a scrum apart you are generally trying to bend your opposition in half, hurt them and ensure they don't want to pack down for the next scrum. Ideally you want them off the pitch as soon as possible never, ever wanting to see your face again opposite them.
Remember the front rower is a very different beast to any other rugby player on the pitch and the job they do is very different. I know - I did it for 25 years!

@ pantreac - he's a hooker (and a very good one) - he's not supposed to be nice! His job (along with his two props) is to take a scrum apart. It used to be to hook the ball but as referees seem to think it is OK to feed the ball these days he doesn't need to hook - so he is now there to push and be destructive.

@rugby_rockstar - there was an incident in the Leicester - Worcester game that wasn't reported (unsurprisingly overshadowed by Andy Goode's antics), and that was when Shervington shoved Tuilagi in the back, after the ball and whistle had both gone. Tuilagi turned around and clouted him across the cheek with an open hand, for which I believe he was lucky to have not been punished, but Shervington started grinning at him and pointing to his face, mouthing something along the lines of "You hit me, you're off!". It was fairly obvious it was solely intended to 'get one back' for Goode being sent off, and it's the sort of thing soccer players do to get their opponents into trouble - I don't want to see that becoming a trend.

I have to agree with both SKY (urgh) and ESPN (yey!) as they have both pointed the finger squarely at the guy to started the fight and asked where is the justice? He's just strolled off rubbing his hands thinking "hey i've got the leicester scrum half sin binned and banned and got clean away with it! I'm gonna have a go at more players more often!"
The lesson every rugby player is learning is get your dirty trick in first and you'll nobble the opposition big time. It's a win win situation, the player doesn't react then you've taken him out the game and helped you team win, he does react then you'll still get a penalty for yiour team and they get a possible a yellow card and the club may still lose a match in the future due to being unable to pick the player you've nobbled. Great if the club is abve you in the league!
Its days like this when I wonder why I support the game. Isn't sport supposed to be fair? This is just ugly and cynical and I dunno, covered in puss filled boils! You just want to leg it in the opposite direction as fast as you can before you catch something unwholesome. How can the rule makers JUST penalise the retaliators? how is that fair? what is that telling players to do? COMMON SENSE PLEASE!

It is no coincidence that Youngs has just received a slap on the wrist. The 'punishment' dealt out to Hartley is risible. This oaf is a serial thug on and off the pitch, I remember his threats and swearing when yellow carded against the welsh side as he was walking to the touchline. It is no coincidence that 'English' internationals receive very, very lenient punishments when appearing before judicial panels!!!!

Same old. Any other club then Tigers and that'd be the remainder of the season.

Fair ban given the circumstances reported. Hopefully this will ground Ben Youngs' feet and return him to the form he showed 18 months ago. What the RFU has to do is deal with the jokers that hold players on the floor deliberately slowing down the game. And the cheap shot merchants that go around the field provoking fights.
