Best wishes big guy. The recent surgery was a way of telling you that you need a rest from the high level game. 2 years in Japan will keep you eye in and if you feel so, try again for the silver fern. No complaints from here. Great guy.

Leinsterblue - that's a very true point

melkdave - look at it on the other hand, local players will gain more experience and more opportunity develop playing alongside players of the pedigree of Kaino and some of the other exiles. Playing against these guys forces the locals to up their game and also allows them a platform to learn from them. Not such a bad thing.

Yep can't blame in but how long can New Zealand sustain it's policy of not playing guys who are playing offshore? The financial squeeze on NZ rugby is frankly making this a policy unsustainable. NZ rugby can not compete on the world market for palyers. Is it the major breeding ground for world rugby? Yep

hmmmm...would the posts wishing him good luck be radically different if he had signed for a team in Ireland, England of France...seems to me that if a SH player goes to Japan he gets best wishes, but if he signs for any other northern hemisphere club the posts are anything but complimentary - in particular I am thinking of the pretty vitriolic posts after Nathan Wite signed for Leinster

Cant blame him for wanting to make a few dollars .But i do feel Japans practice of buying in players is hurting their development .After all if youve spent alot of money getting an overseas player your not going to play a local boy are you
