Mike Tindall: Under pressure

Gloucester boss Bryan Redpath is confident that Mike Tindall will soon put a tumultuous World Cup campaign behind him.

Tindall hit the headlines in the World Cup but it wasn't because of his underwhelming performances but rather his off-field behaviour.

After CCTV footage captured Tindall, who recently married Zara Phillips, the Queen's granddaughter, and a mystery blonde women enjoying some time together during a night out with some team-mates at a bar in Queenstown, the press went into overdrive.

While the England camp initially downplayed the events it later emerged that Tindall may have mislead the England management with regards to what happened that night.

With England crashing out of the World Cup the focus is now off Tindall and Redpath believes that the 32-year-old needs to get back into action with the Cherry and Whites and leave the past six weeks behind him.

"I respect Mike massively, he is a rugby player and that's how he will be judged. Many people judge him on many other things," said the Scot.

"I spoke to him on Friday and Sunday because he wanted to know all the plays and moves and to do a bit of homework.

"He needs to play at Gloucester and he needs to get his head down and work hard and forget what he has been through over the last three or four months and knuckle down. If he knuckles down he will push for a place, and if he doesn't he is the same as everyone else here."

If Redpath selects on merit (unlike MJ) then I doubt Tinds will get into the first team.
