I've not heard anything of a George Smith comeback cantyboy, He is injured at the moment and has signed with Toulon for next season. Shows no respect to him, the holder of 8 Brumby player of the year awards (remember that team?) and he needs not come back to prove anything. What it does show is the fear just his name generates in kiwiland, when you say he shouldn't come back at the world cup and be shown to be a hack. Pocock is good enough already to lower Richie's colors.

I would say Richie impacts the game differently. He is a great allrounder in rugby

leadership, work rate, charisma and maturity plays a big part in that black jersey.

A role model i would say. Pocock a very young up n coming player, good for the game and the wallabies. I wouldnt compare them on the same platform though!!!

As much as I enjoyed GS, another good bloke as well, Pocock, like RMc seems to do things easily. GS was certainly effective and no critisism implied but he didn't seem to have the playing composure that these guys have. In this day of getting pinged for lying in the wrong place I think ,because of his enthusuastic style, GS would get pinged a lot more than the these two.

On the gronnd at the breakdown Pocock possible outshines Richie but McCaws play aound the park as a link and his reading of play sets him apart from all others, but I am almost certain with more game time Pocock could be as good there as well.. He could become the nemisis of others that McCaw is currently.

For my money.......Brussow and Pocock are excellent players.......both are exceptional young talents that enjoyed excellent campaigns in their 1st outings at international level.

However, to be regarded as a true great like McCaw or Smith or Williams the Welshman (I'm just talking about the fetcher type players here), you have to be able to produce that kind of form for a number of seasons and against allcomers at all levels.

This is not having a go at either of the 2 youngsters, but in today's world, people are too eager to flippantly throw around words such as "great" when players have only enjoyed a decent year, usually their first year. The real test of whether you are going to be great is how you respond and play to the added pressures of being "known" and targeted for your abilities

Saying all that, I believe Brussow and Pocock will continue to improve and will no doubt be regarded as greats......but only in the future.

Arguably ? Ritchie is the best in the world, hands down and i agree with jmanngod and 5Lock4ward.Yes i think that george should stay retired at the top of his game, with humility and not show up at the world cup to be shown a hack.It would be a negative move and prove that Australia has no depth of young players coming through,or has confidence in their current players. It would be like the AB's getting josh kronfeld back.

Agreed with your comments on Brussow, totally dominant during the Lions series and last season's 3N. He'll be back with interest when the injury is right.

Great player, and a gent with it. I think if Brussow would have had the breaks this year we would be talking about him in the same light as McCaw and Pocock. Three great 'players' of the game and rules. Some of my favourite rugby to watch.

Can't see Smithy coming back for WC and credit to him, get out and let someone else have a go. Paid off with Pocock. Wallaby back row headaches with the return of Cliffy.

This young man is the future for the Wallabies for sure. I am not convinced that for RWC 2011 we won't see George Smith in a golden #7 jersey though.
