Luke McAlister's comeback to Super 14 rugby has once again been delayed, this time as a result of a broken nose suffered in training.
McAlister, coming off the back of an ankle injury, played a full eighty minutes of club rugby at the weekend and emerged unscathed.
He was one of five - centre Isaia Toeava, wing George Pisi, wing Anthony Tuitavake and loose forward Chris Lowrey being the others - that Pat Lam had been looking forward to considering for selection once again.
"We're in better shape than we were before the Crusaders game," said Lam, who said McAlister may yet be considered anyway depending on the severity of the break.
"We're really pleased with a lot of the stuff that we have done but there's areas that we can really tinker with," he said to Sportal.
Lam added that the breakdown was still an area of focus.
"As coaches we've had a real good look at it and we will make a couple of changes here and there," he said.
"It's just about having confidence that if you look after the ball well it can certainly have a big impact on your game."
