Kingsley Jones is hoping that several of his Sale Sharks will soon follow Mark Cueto's lead by signing a new deal at Edgeley Park.
The England international full-back penned a new four-year contract last week that will make him the longest serving player in the club's history.
But according to the Manchester Evening News, approximately six other first-team players including Dwayne Peel and Lee Thomas are set to be out of contract at the end of the Guinness Premiership season. A prospect that Jones hopes will not lead to an exodus.
"Hopefully Mark's new deal will be the first in the line of a few guys who will be out of contract at the end of the season," he told the newspaper.
"As I've stated before, we're not pushing on with starting discussions too soon, particularly this early in the season, but Mark felt he wanted to know what he was doing going forward and was more than happy to do his deal now.
"And I think it could be a catalyst for the other boys. They have seen the commitment from both Mark and the club and, hopefully, as a result those guys will decide to follow suit.
"There's about half a dozen other players affected and some need to be spoken to before the others, not only for the club's benefit but for theirs.
"It is pretty early to be talking about new deals but Mark was a bit different in that the initial approach came from him.
"He wanted to get it done so that he knows what he is doing for the next few years and we were all absolutely delighted with his decision."
