Francois Hougaard: Staying a Bull
Springbok scrum-half Francois Hougaard has signed a three-year contract with the Super 14 and Currie Cup-winning Blue Bulls.
The 21-year-old joined the franchise at the end of 2007, after spending his first year after school at Western Province and ever since he has grown into one of our country's leading rugby players.
Hougaard made his Super 14 debut as a 19-year-old for the Bulls in 2008 and owing to a series of immaculate performances in this year's Currie Cup, the national selectors included him in South Africa's end-of-year tour squad.
He played in both of the Boks' midweek matches and made his Test debut for South Africa against Italy in Udine last weekend.
Hougaard is one of the Bulls' most versatile and hard working players and although he is first and foremost a scrum-half, he has done exceptionally well when he was used at wing or outside centre and is certainly one of the teams' brightest prospects for the future.
