Flanker John Barclay insists Scotland can end their sixteen-game losing streak against Australia if they play to their potential.
It is 27 years since Scotland last beat the Wallabies, but confidence is high that record will come to an end at Murrayfield on Saturday.
Scotland go into the match on the back of a 23-10 victory over Fiji and Barclay believes a second win of the autumn is a distinct possibility.
"It's a bit cliched but we can't change what's gone on in the past," said Barclay.
"Some of the guys have played Australia and some haven't.
"If we train well and we play to our potential, we believe we have the capability to beat them on Saturday."
Scotland have done plenty of research on the Wallabies, with Barclay, who will win his thirteenth cap on Saturday, insisting they will be ready.
"We'll be trying to play a bit wider and with a bit more ambition," said Barclay.
"Australia are one of the best teams in the world at slowing down ball so there's a big onus on us to make sure, when we've got the ball, that we're getting clean ball for the backs.
"They've turned the scrum into almost one of their strengths now, so it'll be a massive challenge for us and we know what we're up against."
