That front row looks good, could cause the boks some problems. Lineout not so much but atleast all of the backrow can jump. Traille is obviously there to counter the boks kicking strategy. He will keep France in the game and Medard will come on late to win it. If the French forwards lift and match the South Africans then i'll back them to win.

Would have loved to see Jean de Villiers v Mermoz though. Spies and Picamoles should also be good, two powerhouse number 8's. Fingers crossed for a Botha and Chabal run it towards the end.

Neef - agree with you on the poor midfield choices. When is Janjes back from injury? The form fullback at the moment is Terblanche although Joe Pieterse is also up there (not too sure if either made the squad). Wouldn't mind seeing Meyer Bosman at inside centre (big boot, sound on defence) and Jacques at outside centre. With Habana and hopefully the new chap from Free State on the wings a better balanced side.

I am not sure the Boks will be "encouraged" by the absence of Jauzion. Jauzion has been a great inspiration at centre for les Bleus but he has shown signs of fading away at least for France (less so for Stade Toulousain). I suspect Guy Noves will eventually settle the pair of David and Fritz at centre for Toulouse. David and Mermoz (along with Bastareaud, Traille and Fritz) are likely to be part of the next World Cup squad. Fritz needs to sort out his sometimes self-destructive attitude on and off the pitch because he should have made a place in the French team already. But overall, David-Mermoz could well be our best combination at centre.

Uh-oh, France has made the correct midfield choice to eploit our two weak links: Aid Jacobs at inside centre and Z (whatever his name is) on fullback.

My money is on France to win yet again by 10+ points.
