Almost back: Kristian Ormsby
Sale have been handed a personnel boost after vital back-row Kristian Ormsby completed a 20-minute comeback for their A team on Monday.
The former New Zealand Maori and Chiefs star has been out of action at Edgeley Park since last November due to a long-term knee problem.
But with the Sharks currently sitting outside the Guinness Premiership's play-off spots, Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones was clearly delighted to see his powerful player back training and playing.
"Just having Kristian back in training, let alone playing, has given everyone a big lift," he said, speaking to the Manchester Evening News.
"Having him hitting rucks and tackle bags in training has been great but the big thing - mentally at least - was getting him back into a match environment.
"That's why we thought getting him in at A level and maybe easing him in for about 20 to 30 minutes was the best way to go.
"As well as the obvious boost of having someone with his class back in the mix is the fact that it has come during the international period.
"We've missed Kristian and the physicality he brings to the team so much and his return has really become essential to us.
"When you think of facing a pack that contains the likes of Kristian, Dean Schofield, Sisa Koyamaibole and Luke Abraham, that's quite a prospect.
"And I think having that power to call upon will only be a good thing for us going into the rest of the season."
