Nine points: Greig Laidlaw

Edinburgh made it back-to-back Pro12 wins after edging bottom side Zebre 9-7 at Stadio XXV Aprile on Friday.

Three Greig Laidlaw penalty goals were enough to see off the threat of Zebre, who took the lead through a converted first-half try by top scorer Dries van Schalkwyk.

The home side welcomed back Italian skipper Marco Bortolami into the second-row after international duty, although Mauro Bergamasco had not recovered from the injury he picked up in last week's game against Scarlets.

Changes among the backline saw Paolo Buso switch from fly-half to full-back, with Luciano Orquera returning to the number ten shirt.

Edinburgh, meanwhile, saw Scotland and Lions hooker Ross Ford make his 100th appearance, surpassing the mark which interim coach Stevie Scott made during his time in the Scottish capital a decade ago.

Having taken an early lead through Laidlaw's fifth minute penalty, Edinburgh failed to build on their bright start to the game.

Zebre scored the only try of the game on the half hour with number eight Van Schalkwyk zig-zagging his way through the Edinburgh defence, and with Orquera converting, Edinburgh were left chasing the game.

Laidlaw kicked his second penalty on the stroke of half-time to reduce the arrears to a single point, and gave his side the lead five minutes after the restart with his third penalty of the night.

Edinburgh's pressure on the Zebre line led to two near-misses for the visitors, as first of all, Greig Tonks was held up, while Laidlaw was through after neat work by Netani Talei at the back of the scrum, but his slip on the approach to the line saw Zebre compose themselves, and remove any danger.

Orquera almost gave his side the victory with only two minutes of play left, with a drop-goal attempt which connected with the post to rebound back into play, but Edinburgh held on for the win which brought only their third away win of the season.
