Australia centre Christian Lealiifano admits that part of him would like to return to his hometown of Melbourne to play Super Rugby.

The Wallabies are currently taking part in a three-day training camp in the city before facing the All Blacks in Wellington this weekend.

Without a Super Rugby franchise in the city until the introduction of the Rebels in 2010, Lealiifano was forced to move elsewhere and has enjoyed a successful stint with the Brumbies, whose academy he joined aged 17.

After making his Wallaby debut against the British and Irish Lions in June, Lealiifano admits he would love to inspire a new generation of youngsters from Melbourne.

Lealiifano's current contract with the Brumbies expires at the end of 2014.

''Obviously you want to stay where you grew up and, to not have a side here, I was always going to be disappointed that I had to move elsewhere,'' said Lealiifano to the Sydney Morning Herald.

"A big reason I would want to come home is to inspire the young generation down here ... there's so much talent down [here].'

''I loved just running around with my mates and enjoying the game and never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be back in Melbourne in Wallabies colours.

"It's exciting and I feel really rewarded, and hopefully young kids can aspire to one day become a Wallaby as well.''
