You fellow poms are lucky to have noddy talking sense - we have to put up with Kearns and 'Marto' - pillocks both ! Love the idea of loans and getting these guys more rugby, which can also only help te championship quality (you would hope). Sad position though that as a poster alluded to, 24-25 is closer to a kiwi prime !

Agree with both comments below. I think it is a bit of a shame that their club can't loan them to the Championship, which I am sure they would consider if it were not for the salary cap. It has to be viewed as a little sad that a young player would part from his home club due to regulations.
Michael Lynagh made an excellent suggestion on Sky's Rugby Club that players who come through a club's own academy shouldn't count towards that club's salary cap if their tenure is unbroken, I think that should allow a loan spell in a lower league too, then Exeter could loan these players instead of releasing them.
Incidentally, I'm pleased to see that Mr Lynagh

I think more young players ought to come and have a go in the Championship. All too often academy players reach the age of 21 or 22 without ever really getting a taste of first team rugby and their talent is wasted. Mind you i often here players of the age 24 and 25 refered to as 'youngsters' when in the likes of NZ and Oz they'd be sending them off for retirement by the age of about 29 or 30, but thats a different point! Id love to see the loan system become more active so that these lads can come and play week in week out to a very good standard. There are loads of players in the Prem that never play any rugby at all and yet there are a whole host of clubs that would love to take on a season long loan in the Champ and below.
