Well said. He posts on practically every thread, with the same poorly constructed drivel.

A good start, too many unforced errors. No one really played badly. Tom Wood deserves a mention for doing a lot of un-praised grunt work a'la Richard Hill.

The Irish will be a completely different proposition though, England will need to find an extra gear.

There was a big difference in the class of the two teams today. Promising though.

@meldave - sorry, but this threas was about England vs. Scotland and NOT England vs. New Zealand!

For today, what has SL learned???!?!??

Goode has no place in the squad

Brown is a full back

Marler cannot catch

And the arguments about Strettle etc. are almost void until next week...

Other than that, fair play to Scotland for making the game enjoyable (from a spectator perspective) and challenging (from Englands perspective)

Well done England. Lancaster doing a great job there. How many times were we killed from stupid turnovers? Our back row isn't right. Denton badly out of form and we miss Rennie. We need to play a fetcher so Fusaro should be considered. Beattie is class though. Liked 12trees for England but as a Scot I was proud of Hogg today, lovely to watch.

Good first up win for England, they are building the foundation of a quite a good team and will only get better.

Scotland missed having Ross Rennie on the open side. Euan Murray and Jim Hamilton should be shown the exit door. Hamilton is too slow has no passion for Scotland and spends most of his time trying to fight. Murray offers nothing in the loose and is now over the hill in the tight... from a Scotland perspective his best years were wasted by counting fairies.

Positives for Scotland were the back three when they did get some ball and showed real pace. Laidlaw played well at nine, Jackson is not a test level player. Matt Scott never got any ball and Lamont the same. Ryan Grant apart from a brain explosion two meters from the England line was good in the loose and tight. Richie Gray seems to have gone back since his move south. Hall was okay and deserves to keep the starting slot.

I do see Scotland improving though and can see them winning all of their home games... if they ditch Murray and Hamilton.

Please, somebody, anybody, teach melkdave how to use spellcheck (pity we don't have grammar check as well). I can't read his posts any more, because they are like the welsh game-plan (error-strewn).

Would like to go back to Brown 15, Foden 11, Ashton 14.

Thought Parling was man of match. Tom Youngs had a bad first half but was subbed as he was hitting form. Morgan is improving every game. Foden was missed at 15 and felt he could have kept Scottish scoreline lower which could count later in tournament. Barritt not as good at 13. So will be a hard call with Tuilagi returning to 13 who should be 12. Hopefully Barrett and 12trees will get at least one more start at 12. Barrett vs Wales to mark Roberts.

Strange tactics from Scotland, they tried too much to match the English power while they have the pace to move around them; all the weirdest with an Australian coach...

Sure England were largely dominant but they really lack efficiency, against more resilient teams they'll get punished for that.

Despite being on the losing side, Hogg would be my MoT - but Twelvetrees fitted well in.

So far an enjoyable Six Nations, hope we get more tomorrow.

Good result for England and good performance at times. Some frustrating stuff at times also, poor handling, turnovers but overall a good start to the 6N.

Goode looked a bit suspect at times and I'd like to see a fit Foden in there.

Why oh why is strettle there? I don't see what he brings to the side. He was very lazy in defence for Hoggs try.

Overall though, I'm happy.

Another outstanding game today,England where just superb, their work at the breakdown allowed them to play at pace, and force Scotland onto the backfoot .Definatly moved on from the aurtum imo,and their only fault was perhaps being to ambitios ,but you cant fault a team for that.Scotland didnt play badly, but just wherent allowed any possesionor space, and had to live on any England mistakes.A fantastastic performance by England imo,and Scotlands wasnt bad either given the amount of pssesion and territory they had.
