In hot water: Eben Etzebeth

Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth has been cited for making contact with the "eye or eye area" of Scotland fly-half Greig Laidlaw.

The alleged incident occurred in the second-half of South Africa's 21-10 victory at Murrayfield on Saturday.

21-year-old Etzebeth will appear before an International Rugby Board disciplinary hearing on Tuesday.

South Africa play England at Twickenham on Saturday.

The IRB's recommended sanctions for any player found guilty of 'eye-gouging' range from a low entry point of 12 weeks to a high entry point of 24 weeks with a maximum possible ban of three years.

Meanwhile, Argentina prop Juan Figallo has been cited for head-butting France captain Pascal Pape at the end of the Pumas' 39-22 defeat in Lille on Saturday.

Figallo's hearing is listed for Wednesday. Argentina face Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.

If true then a hefty ban is comIng for Etezbeth ,and that will not hep the bokke cause,as he is turnig into an able Bajjies replacement ,and works rather wellwith J.Kruger and A.Bekker.Silly and stupid thing to do given the present climate ,and peoples total loathing of such behaviour.

Wow, for someone so new to International Rugby, he's accumulating quite the dirty play record already isn't he. Fancies himself as the new Bakkies Botha it seems.

Maybe he should have trampled on Laidlaw's head and only got a weeks ban instead.

BokAvenger - I do love your insightful and balanced comments.

You're like all Bok supporters and Saffas the world over. A stupid thug. All brawn and no brains. Just like all Saffas. You probably think gouging is acceptable. How about we rake people's eyes with our studs too? That'd be fun.

Wouldn't it be a shame if we actually thought like that?

Anyone got a vid link to incident? Bad timing for Etzebeth, as they will now be forced to throw the book at him if found guilty, whereas a week ago he would have been able to spin the wheel of punishments.
