Heart palpitations: Mtawarira

Tendai Mtawarira will return to South Africa on Monday following a decision that it would be in the player's best interests not to continue with the tour.
This follows Mtawarira's withdrawal from last Saturday's Test against Ireland as a precautionary measure, after he had a recurrence of mild heart palpitations that morning.
"We've consulted with Beast and his cardiologist in Durban and although it's safe for him to play, we decided it would be best for him to return home and rest," said Bok coach Heyneke Meyer.
"The player's welfare is the most important consideration at this stage."
Mtawarira, who travelled with the rest of the squad to Edinburgh on Sunday, had an irregular heart rhythm, according to Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts. The condition is hereditary.
"He has had this several times before and it's always been managed accordingly," said Roberts.
"This condition is not life threatening, but needs to be managed properly which is why we thought it would be in Beast's best interest to return to South Africa.
"He needs to have a repeat of the minor procedure he had in Cape Town earlier this year and it's important to notice that he is not at risk by playing with it, and his career is not in jeopardy."
A decision on a replacement for Mtawarira will be taken in due course.

Spot on. We don't want Mujati in the squad.
Does anybody know the answer to my previous question?

Why does WP Nel not get a mention. Strong scrummager and contributes well in the loose as well. He is a fine player and proven at Super Rugby level. Kitshoff is a reasonable alternative, though my first choice would be WP Nel.

I agree with boksmashoffice - I appeal to HM, if you are looking at Mujati please have a good look around and if you truly can't find anyone else I would like to volunteer my services even at the age of 66.

A positive from this is Beast gets a rest. I still think Jannie and Strauss should have the week off v scotland and maybe play v England. Kirchner should get the year off along with JDV. Thats no disrespect to Scotland. Some of these guys have been playing solid rugby for ages without a break. This will take a toll. HM needs to think long term. If that means losing to improve, well I can stomach that. I was pondering what will happen to the Backrow when Spies comes back. Personally I would bring him off the bench and rotate with Alberts and Cotazee. I think we have our back row is settled. Still think Broussow should be in the thinking. I have emailed his agent to get a transfer to the Bulls.

I will refuse to wear my Bok jersey if Mujati becomes a Bok. What his family have done in Zim is not what should be accepted.Plus we have enough quality props that we can bring through. I would rather have Greyling ahead of Mujati.

@ ste490 and any more people saying Mujati should play for SA: It is not the Springboks who does not want Mujati to play for them, it is Mujati who is not willing to go through the necessary process to get a South African passport so that he can play for Springboks.

Good luck BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAST! Get some rest. With him and Bismarck both having enforced breaks, it is only good for the Sharks and the Boks.

Good luck, Tendai. Get well soon and take it easy, man.
Off topic question. Is Mtawarira of Matabele's origin?

This guy is all heart and I wish him well. World rugby is worse off with him not playing.
When I say "all heart", except for his power and strength, of course:

This is very unfortunate... but I think it is definitely the right decision.
As for the replacement - there should be one name at the top of that list: Steven Kitschoff. He might only be 20, but after his performances in Super Rugby, the Junior World Cup and the Currie Cup finals, there should be no doubt that he is one of the best props in the country right now. With Beast and Coenie out and Dean Greyling a proven idiot, Kitshoff should now get his opportunity.
