French pivot Frederic Michalak said that revenge was sweet for his team after they dominated Australia 33-6.
The last time these two outfits met in Paris it was the Wallabies who prevailed by a 59-16 scoreline.
And for Michalak, who kicked 15 points and set up a try for Wesley Fontana, Saturday's result helped to erase some of those painful memories.
"We had a revenge to take against Australia," he said at the Stade de France on Saturday.
"Against such a team, we had to play at a high level.
"The defence was great, we didn't crack and didn't concede a try. It's great, the sign of good teams which have a solid defence and don't let anything through.
"It's a great win, but we will again have to go to work because Argentina are coming next week, and they won today (against Wales)."
Meanwhile, Australia lock and captain Nathan Sharpe added: "France played very well and thoroughly deserved to win."

I didn't know Wesley Fontana played for France yesterday..!
However, I loved Wesley FOFANA's try...
Joke aside, it's good to see Michalak back on top.
France did well yesterday but it wasn't even the best 15 available according to me.
Now, bring on the Pumas!
