@fattysock, If I remember correctly, the Blues lost once in 2003 against the Highlanders. most of the people I hang around with all think they were unbeaten in 2003 as well. I only remember the loss because I almost cried that night as I really wanted the Blues to go unbeaten lol

Good luck to the Blues next season!

Let battle begin - as far as I know none of the Blues' administration/board have changed after this season's poor performance, Lam shouldered the blame for that. They may find the combo of Kirwan and Henry less easy to deal with - I hope so. That and a less-cursed season in terms of injuries, hope to see the Blues perform far better next season.

NZ's management was the best in business by far. I rate him highly among the best rugby minds. I think he learnt very much from 2007 and I would have emphasised the positives from that. Anyway, no much harm done. Henry and Kirwan are an interesting pairing, curious to see what they will do.

Good to see the coaching talent sticking around and prepared to step down a level to Super Ruby . Henry and Smith could very easily be overseas on bigger money.

Henry's record with the Blues is basically as good as it is with the ABs... every year he was there, we've done well. First three seasons = 2 wins and a 2nd... then nothing except 2003 when Henry was a "technical advisor" and we went unbeaten the whole season.

Hope he can do it again!

Feel sorry for Lam as the new coach is getting the support he never got. Also some of the younger players introduced this year will perform next year and Weepu and Nonu will be more season ready. Also they are unlikely to get the run of injuries that they had this year. If they do improve, and they surely will, the two Sirs will get the praise but its never as simple as that.

Nice little earner for your semi retirement Graham. Close to your home and the family. Well deserved though :)

A bit risky if you ask me, his resume may get a little tarnished, however, I am sure he'll get the best out of a good yet under-performing team! maybe in his 2nd yr in charge they'll fire?

Deluded his comments may have been, Carpelone, but the guy is a good coach.

And his thoughts were no worse than some of your fellow countrymens most weeks on this site.

All pedigreed sides have a spring mechanism. When they have a lean run the spring gets compressed tighter and tighter, until they bounce back with venom. I really had hoped that the Stromers win 2012's SR competition, as I think it will be just that much harder next year, with the Bulls likely to be stronger plus no easy points against the Blues. Watch them cause havoc next year.

I wish SA could make more use of the ex-Springbok coaches. Well, I see PdV is now in charge of rugby (wierd) at the University of the Western Cape. Good luck chaps.

Sorry Carpelone we don't have that English cheat Barnes refereeing in Super Rugby. We only have the South African cheats Kaplan and Joubert now that the NZ cheat Lawrence is on his way out and the OZ cheat Dickinson has retired lol. No doubt we will get some more on board next year to replace those cheats who have retired or been forced out. So please don't send any of the cheats from up North to help ruin our competition as we have enough of our own and as soon as any of our referees get a final or semi to do they will automatically be elected to the panel of cheats. But be warned cheats Graham will be analysing your every move so make sure if you cheat it is worth it. You know real gold Rolex Watches not fake Luyt ones and wads of large notes preferably OZ ones as the Kiwi and Saffa ones are worthless.

Will make an interesting Super Rugby campaign and we all await whether the culture at the Bloos can be turned around in 2014. Good luck Sir John and Sir Graham does this mean your team is no longer just "The Blues," but now "The Royal Blues?"

Hmmmmmmmmmmm 2013 could be an interesting time for the Blues. There will be a lot of chaff cleaned from the wheat in the off season.

Watch out, Graham. Most of the games of the Blues must have been set up this year...
