as an Irish fan felt he was an average player to watch, probably shows up well in the stats. Tough character, probs why Cockerill likes him

watch as he gets into the saxons set up...

hopefully Irish will make a decent signing to cover his loss because he started at 8 most of last season, what with Halau'fia trying to single handedly decapitate the majority of the AP

I think this is a good signing actually. Thorpe can play across the back row and will add cover at 8 where we will miss Waldrom through the international periods and Crane is only just coming back after a long lay off. Croft will also be missing for a while, and Newby does seem to be a bit injury prone.

Being so verstile, he will probably start off as a bench player, but Tigers do have a knack of getting the best out of so called journeymen, so if Salvi or Newby go next season, then he could become an important player.

What I can't understand is why we signed Deacon if talks were already advanced with Thorpe.

A lot of injuries at tigers and there's always the problem of losing players during international breaks

The salary cap must surely limit the number of show piece signings when the squad is already full of quality. Every side needs the journey men

@markmassive - Leicester have money, but not enough to sign two international players in every position. Plus the fact that Delon has disciplinary issues...although in that regard, if anywhere was going to be the making of him, Leicester would be that team.

I'm not sure myself to be honest. Currently we've got Croft and Newby at blindside, with Mafi able to play there too, Salvi, Woods and Armes at openside (Pienaar has been released) and Waldrom, Crane and de Carpentier at 8.We've also signed Brett Deacon as injury dispensation for Croft and Newby...I'm guessing this chap is also injury cover?

Leicester definitely should have signed Steffon and Delon Armitage.... Those two players would have definitely added quality to the the team.

I dont get it is he a really good player? I understand Leicester signing Miles Benjamin because that lad is class. I dont understand Leicester should go for players like Jonathan Joseph or Henry Trinder. Players that are on the brink of the EPS. I understand Joseph is up there, I mean players like that.

You look at who they've signed Brett Deacon? sorry he's not good enough. They need to start reinvesting in quality. London Irish seem to be creating an exciting team from their academy why not Leics

I actually think this is a good signing for leicester. He'll add quality cover to the back row. One thing i would say is that Brett Deacon is gonna find chances very limited. I don't know why he went there. He'll probably struggle to make the bench of the 2nd XV when everyones fit!
