Lazy (possibly biased) journalism from PR! "Liam Gill barged over" you contend and on the balance of probabilities you are right but TV replays did NOT show that a try had been scored. They showed the ball being grounded but there was no TV evidence that this was over the line. The TMO is not allowed to guess in the "try or no try" question and so was correct!

Your report suggests the TMO was wrong when in fact your reporter is incorrect.

Journalists & pundits have a duty to be fair to the officials otherwise it will turn into soccer!

@ georgesmith,

It would be great if you could show some praise for the opposition.

Yes, it was madness to change Genia to 10 (but it could have been a stroke of genious). However, having watched the match I got the feeling the Reds were outplayed in most departments. Blaming it on the referee and the citing comission sounds a lot like sour grapes.

It would be great if you could at least acknowledge that the Sharks deserved to win. This is rugby, not soccer.

(P.S. In case you wonder I am French and a neutral observer).

I wondered about that one too. You could mount a good argument that Will Genia is the best halfback in the world at the moment - why would you shift him out of position when you didn't have to? Obviously it's always going to be tough when you bring a 5-2 bench split and then your flyhalf gets injured early in the game, but as this article says, they could have brought Tapuai on and moved Harris in to flyhalf.

But frankly the Sharks just outplayed the Reds from 1 to 15. The injury to Ben Lucas and this decision on his replacement may have made the result more one-sided, but the Sharks had the wood on the Reds on the day, end of story.

A moment of madness by E.McKenzie cost the Reds big time. M. Harris was hopeless missing an easy 3-pointer penalty on his own turf. U never put ur best player out of position like in W. Genia's case. B.Tapuai is a class player who deserved to start at No. 12. Tis unfortunate Reds had so many injuries. But then again, Q. Cooper should hev never been suspended. J. Schatz was terrible. He is not supper rugby material. No use Reds wasting time on him.

Reds were second to the better team, however Genia was his usual brilliant self.
