APV1 says...

@ jamesliveinhope & Frooschman - did you see that Catt's made the Saxons squad? Good news all round!

V good player - however still want to see the front row strengthened - James also good signing, but the likes of Perenise, and Catt need to improve their scrummaging to be effective - as for Palme Newport his scummaging simply isnt good enough.

@jamesliveinhope What about the lad with the double-barrell? Kane Palma-Newport? I think that gives us three tight heads, three loose and three hookers.

PS. Couldn't agree more about Catt by the way, although wouldn't mind him putting on a couple of pounds!

APV1 says...

@ jamesliveinhope - don't forget Kane Palma-Newport, who's doing well in the Academy too.

As with most teams, it's fine until there are internationals being played. Then, suddenly, there's much less depth available.

@lawynd I was inclined to agree with you when Flatman retired. But when Iooked at the side you have

Perinise, Wilson, James, Catt, Beech with Webber, Mears and Batty at 2.

Catt especially has slipped in under the radar and I think will be earning England caps sooner rather than later.

I think Leicester have done the right thing, given his salary when compared against future availability. Bath, frankly, are daft; they've got a wealth of options in the backs (as APV1 has aptly demonstrated) but a dearth of them in the forwards. That's the area they need to strengthen and currently, it looks like they'll be expecting to play the season with uncontested scrums. Rubbish.

I think Cockers has made a big mistake here, especially with Alex Tuilagi leaving too. Even given the time he will miss through the Rugby Championship, Agulla is worth keeping, even if he only plays half a season. Bath have got a great signing.

@Capedcrusader - unfortunately, Bubbles last season was a shadow of the player he was 2-3 seasons ago.

Hopefully Miles Benjamin will adapt to become a "proper" Tiger very quickly.

Bad signing for Bath

Posted 12:20 26th June 2012

APV1 says...

I like him and he is a very good player. At 27, he's still got plenty of miles in the tank and he can cover 15 as well. I think his experience in the RC against NZ, Aus and the Boks will also stand him in good stead. Opposite Biggs gives us a great option too.

How's this for a starting back line?

9 Claassens

10 Donald

11 Biggs

12 Barkley

13 Bananaman

14 Agulla

15 Bendy

Bench from - Eastmond / Cuthbert / Williams / Vesty / McMillan / Heathcote / Woodburn

Surely a bad move for the player.

Thoughts APV1????

At least ex Cantab Scotty Hamilton might get his justified spot back

Frooschman says...

Another ex-Tiger? Seriously?!

Leicester's loss is Bath's gain. He is an outstanding player and Leicester should have retained him.
