Kahn Fotuali'i: Happy with team's performance

Ospreys scrum-half Kahn Fotuali'i believes the Welsh region's PRO12 derby win over the Scarlets augurs well for their form in all competitions during the rest the season.

The win over the Scarlets means the Ospreys are now in fifth place on the PR012 table and their 17-6 victory over Toulouse, two weeks ago, kept their Heineken Cup hopes alive.

They have two PRO12 matches against Newport Gwent Dragons and Zebre to play before facing Leicester Tigers at the Liberty Stadium in a crucial Heineken Cup encounter on 12 January.

"It's very important because it builds a bit of confidence," Fotuali'i told the BBC

"We've just got to keep raising the bar and enjoying ourselves, and when you enjoy it you tend to play a little better.

"Full credit to our forwards who gave us a good platform to play off.

"Everybody who takes the field... we're all on the same page, we understand the game plan and that's crucial as a unit."

Despite scoring a try and slotting a drop goal in a man-of-the-match performance, Fotuali'i credited the entire team for the victory.

"(We had) better desire, better want is what it comes down to in these derby games," he added.

"All the boys in there know what to do and what it's about.

"Full credit to our forwards who gave us a good platform to play off and the backs just sort of took it from there.

"We've got some really exciting backs, some young talent out there as well, but when the forwards give us some good ball we're able to produce something like (against Scarlets)."

For the past couple years, Fotuali'i has been my favorite world 9.

I am looking forward to seeing him really kick some butt in the coming years.

I hope Samoa can harness all it's varied talent, I think it has great potential to continue knocking off top-tier internationals.

Kahn!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Number8 they are three of the four regions of Welsh Rugby they do have regional names as well they just didn't get used in this article as most people know them by the team names (Cardiff Blues, Neath-Swansea Ospreys, Llanelli Scarlets and Newport-Gwent Dragons)

Number8 - geographical names don't work because they're regional teams that draw on multiple towns/cities. There was enough grievance over certain towns feeling left out (Ebbw and Pontypool from the Dragons; Pontypridd from the Blues etc). Giving them sufficiently all-encompassing geographical names would see West Wales playing slightly less West and more South Wales; whilst our other derby fixture was South Wales vs South East Wales.

As a rugby supporter living outside of Europe I must say I have no idea who Ospreys, Blues or Scarlets are? I think they are Welsh teams but I'm not sure. Seriously, what's with all the funny names for teams. It's bad enough in Super rugby. What's wrong with geographical names for rugby teams?

Game against Leicester is on the 13th, not the 12th.
