I lost 300$ on that game, and you kno what? I wasn't all that pissed because Shane Williams is one of my favorite stars and the fact that he went out with such glory, makes me wonder why I ever bet against him in the first place.

Thanks, little great man.

Good to read your compliment, but it had to be said, SW was not just probably the best international winger ever but he was so modest, you never saw this guy in anyone's face after scoring or patting opposition on the head or ranting on like Campese...so on that score and his record of being the telling difference in so many matches for Wales he has to be the best winger ever
@pembs
I think Willams is lucky he wasn't from New Zealand, as with Graham Henry as their coach for so long he might have got one cap, scored 3 tries and been dropped for ever

The lions in 05 were the worst lions team ever and not even if lomu had been playing for them would he have fared any better. In 08 he played 1 test and scored 2 tries in the only test the lions won. If he had played for the all blacks he would have scored 100 plus international tries. He played a lot of his early career in a poor Welsh team and has probably won more matches single handedly than any player in history.

Great tribute from Blametheref, and terrific sportsmanship from a supporter of the losing team - just! - in such an important game.
I don't think anyone wants Shane to stop - but I think his mind is made up. It would look a bit daft, anyway, after all the long goodbyes he's given us!
Fabulous game yesterday; to my mind on a higher levelk than either Heineken or Aviva finals. Massive credit to both sides.

forgive me for being the bringer of bad words but i always found SH to be a disappointment at the very top level - particularly for the B&I lions. both in 2005 and 2009 he got his chance but his pint size was regularly shown up - i distinctly remember sione lauaki picking him up like a rag doll and parking him back about 10m. but let's not let that detract from what was a terrific player and a remarkable career. i had a feeling yesterday that if there was one ospreys player who could do us, it was him. and so it came to pass

A great player, with so many great tries to recount. Will be missed.

Notwithstanding I'm a Leinster and Ireland supporter, as it happens, this guy, and for his size, has been a phenomenen in world rugby, as he was yesterday with yet another of his trade mark last gasp tries to "steal" a game....didn't we just expect that if the Ospreys were to grab a last minute try that SW would have a major part to do with it...What impresses most about Williams was when he was overlooked by Graham Henry at a crucial juncture in his career that most leeser men would never have recovered from properly...instead Williams came back a better player to be crowned the highest try scorer ever in the NH and only one down from Campese. Incredible!

Has anyone got a bad word to say about this gent? Even an Englishman like me who has watched with true jealousy such a talented and inspirational player. Well done Shane, you will be missed...
If you could perhaps be a wee bit less bias and not include terms like "ooph" in your commentary, any way you can kick Jonathon Davies into touch?
