@ cuw3100 - did you read the article and understand the quotes?

@ pierredelot1 - we need a good 7, alright. Thank goodness we have Armitage. And the rest, who are currently "filling in".

@ three6three6: from 1980s to present day MJ, JK & RM have played over 200 tests in 7 jersy for ABs. maybe someone can make a list of all the ABs who played as a 7 from say 1981 todate, just to show how so mant missed out due to exceptional players. Legends are made on the field. one or two good matches does not qualify someone to be compared to a legend. Just becoz Sachin Tendulkar has made over 50 centuries and GOD knows how mant runs, the great Sir Donald Bradman remains the legend to date in cricket. Usain Bolt has set many a record on track but still Bob Beamon and Cal Lewis remain the legends.

Only after d=beating mark Spitz' s recod did became a legend. Tiger Woods may hold many records but Jack Nichlos remains the legend. So funny how people lose sight of logic. Someone said David pocock has a autobiography out Already!!! Is that true? seriously???

Don't right Tipuric off for his size, people did that with Back from a young age so he had to fight to get to the top. Wales have two class No 7s, Warburton probably has the edge and to my mind is the classiest captain Wales have had in many a year. Not so say some of the others were bad, but the guy has a great modesty and understanding about him. But if they want to sell Tipuric to England I'm sure Lancaster would be down to the Bank for a loan tomorrow, they would give their right arms for a No7 who can do what he does. Also they are the front line, injury will dictate in the end who has the longest and most succesful career. Much better to be compared to a legend than a Merchant Banker.

Just a daft comment to make for publicity. Warburton is world class, so is worth a comparison to McCaw. Tipuric is just too small to be in that league.

How many 'good' number sevens have never played for the ABs because of the likes of Michael Jones, Josh Kronfeld, Richie McCaw at al?

It is not unfair to offer an opinion about Tipuric and compare his skills with those of Richie McCaw, especially from someone who has trained and played with both players. Arguably, Tipuric might only have limited opportunities because of Sam Warburton. Martyn Williams was quoted a week or so ago as saying that he was glad that he was not emerging now as a younger player - simply because he acknowledged the talent that Wales currently has with regard to number seven.... and Martyn is one of the great Wales sevens! Special players are always marked out by consistently great performances.... they play to a different standard from many of those players around them. They demand higher standards of themselves.....

A true mark of greatness is the impact that a player has on the results of the team when he is not playing..... Richie McCaw's influence in this regard is without peer.... not only has he played more than 100 tests for New Zealand but he is also fast approaching another milestone - having played in '100 winning tests' for New Zealand.... this is probably a much more subtle measure of greatness than anything else... but still a measure no less!

Well cuw3100 at least Fauali'i has played with both of them, so is well qualified to have an opinion. Good to see someone offering encouragement and praise as opposed to slagging off players at every opportunity. We'll be seing statues in gold in NZ next and the pilgrims will be coming down to worship at the feet of the master, enjoy R McC while he's there, he hasn't got much longer to go.

A little too premature, isn't it to compare an amateur to a legend!!! errr how many full tests has JT played at the age of say 25? compare that to RM and the difference will be obvious.

Not to mention that NZ is the prime rugby union talent breeding ground; how many very good 7's have not played for ABs because of RM being the first choice? And to take over from Josh K ; that it self is a feat to mention :)
