Jonathan Davies and Rob McCusker will jointly hold the captaincy duties for Scarlets during the 2013/14 campaign.
McCusker led the Welsh region last season and will continue to do so during the upcoming term, but will be aided by Wales and Lions centre Davies.
"We are delighted to have Rob and Jon leading our side this season. They are committed and ambitious professionals, with an exemplary work ethic and the ability and experience to take our team forward based on our themes of leadership and decision-making under pressure that came out of last season's review," explained head coach Simon Easterby.
"They will set the benchmark for a number of our up-and-coming young players who look to senior players for vision and leadership during the more intense times in our season.
"Both expect very high standards and lead from the front in terms of their own performances. This will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the whole squad. They have the full respect and backing of all our players and management team and I know they will do an excellent job.
"Equally important to our region and our supporters is that both of them embody what being a true Scarlet is all about - both on and off the field and have grown up in rugby in our region."
Easterby added that the demands of the modern game meant that having two captains left the region in stronger standing than if they were to have a single leader.
"With a squad with an average age of 24 compared to many of the Heineken Cup teams averaging at 29+ we need leaders in our group to set the standards and progression of Scarlets rugby this season," he said.
"Today, the captaincy of top flight club rugby is a high profile and demanding role and we believe that these two players will support each other very well, they bring different skill sets as well as having complimentary qualities as co-leaders of our group."
