Suspended: Dan Evans

The Dragons have been hit by a blow after full-back Dan Evans was handed a five-game ban after committing a dangerous tackle against Newcastle.

Team-mate Nic Cudd was originally sent off for the tackle made against the Falcons during last Friday's LV= Cup 29-0 defeat at Kingston Park.

However, video evidence has since shown that it was Evans who was at fault for not returning Falcons centre Adam Powell to the ground safely.

"We had a disciplinary meeting on Tuesday and Nic Cudd was exonerated but Dan Evans was banned," Dragons boss Lyn Jones told the WRU.

"It's a blow. You have a plan and it's not easy to deal with when one of your key players is taken out of the equation. But we have to deal with it and we have to move on."
