Ludovico Nitoglia scored two second-half tries to help Treviso to a 29-19 Pro12 victory over Munster at Stadio Monigo on Friday.

Rob Penney's side went into the game on the back of big bonus-point wins over Edinburgh and Zebre, and they were well placed to make it win number three when leading by 10 points at the start of the second period.

However Treviso, inspired by a brace of tries from winger Nitoglia and some immaculate kicking from fly-half Mat Berquist, hit back to take control of the scoreboard.

Any hopes Munster had of launching a comeback were dashed when Cathal Sheridan and Stephen Archer both received late yellow cards in quick succession.

Munster had got off to a great start when Keith Earls raced down the right hand touchline after being put away by fellow Ireland international Simon Zebo for the first try of the evening on seven minutes.

Berquist responded with a penalty for Treviso and kicked a second shortly after Munster flanker Niall Ronan had been sent to the sin-bin for a breakdown offence.

Munster kept the pressure on the Italians though, and were rewarded with a penalty try. Ian Keatley converted to make it 12-6 to Munster.

Berquist's third penalty cut the deficit to three points at the break. When Archer went over in the 47th minute the result looked in the bag, as Keatley's conversion took Munster 19-9 ahead.

However Treviso responded in positive fashion by creating space for Nitoglia down the right, before the forwards set the winger up for his second after making inroads up the middle.

Berquist converted both tries and then struck his fifth penalty to complete a flawless display of goal kicking.
