Flanker CJ Stander bagged two tries as Munster sealed a 43-21 bonus point win over Zebre in Parma.

Zebre headed into the game in confidence following an encouraging performance in defeat to Connacht last week, while Munster had been buoyed by an opening-day win over Edinburgh.

Within the first 15 minutes the visitors established a six-point lead, as they capitalised on Zebre's indiscipline twice through the boot of JJ Hanrahan.

Luciano Orquera responded with a penalty goal for the hosts to narrow the deficit, before he crashed over for a try, but he was unable to convert the latter score.

At 3-8, the contest remained open, and Hanrahan's third penalty of the evening brought the two teams closer, but Orquera's second penalty followed by a try from Andrea De Marchi which was converted by Giovanbattista Venditti, made it 18-9 to Zebre at half-time.

The second-half was a different story, however, as Munster cut loose through four second-half tries and 34 points in total to seal a comfortable away win.

Hanrahan's penalty early after the restart narrow Zebre's lead, before the deficit was swallowed up completely and the advantage passed to Munster when he converted Paddy Butler's try.

Denis Hurley's effort just shy of the hour put Munster further in front, before they sealed the win and underlined their superiority through further tries from CJ Stander and Ian Keatley, which Hanrahan converted comfortably.

The second-half performance offered a glimpse of what Munster could be capable of this season, and they will head in next week's visit of Treviso in confident mood.
