Praise: Solomons with Laidlaw

Edinburgh boss Alan Solomons was overjoyed with his team's surprising 29-23 victory over Munster in the Heineken Cup.

The Scottish side came into the fixture bottom of the RaboDirect Pro12 after some dismal early-season performances, with few expecting them to win.

Munster though were caught out at Murrayfield, with Solomons praising influential scrum-half Greig Laidlaw who kicked 19 points.

"I am absolutely delighted, the team have been improving week on week and today they got what they deserved," Solomons told Sky Sports.

"When you keep working hard you eventually get the rewards.

"It is all part of the process but I am really pleased with the effort and performance today. We have a clear way we want to play and that was well executed.

"I think Greig [Laidlaw] led the side well, he kicked particularly well but it is credit to everyone involved. It was a real team performance."

"[Facing Perpignan] will be a massive game, the French are always difficult to beat at home so we know we can expect a tough game but the boys are ready for it and it is important for us to show a measure of consistency," he added.

Munster head coach Rob Penney was left questioning his team's fight after they were missing a "spark" to their game, despite scoring two tries through Mike Sherry and Casey Laulala.

"We just weren't there today,"said Penney.

"It's always a worrying sign when you walk into the changing room and there is very little noise.

"It was just one of those days where at half-time as a coaching staff we tried to pick the boys up but unless they are prepared to deliver the expected performance there is not a lot we can do about it.

"I'm not sure if it was complacency, we were just flat for some reason. We just didn't have that spark at all.

"You have got to love what you do and today there was just no love there. We got beat by a better side."
