An injury-time penalty from fly-half Harry Leonard snatched a 16-13 win for Edinburgh over the Dragons at Murrayfield.

The Dragons had been in confident mood having beaten last season's finalists Ulster last weekend. Edinburgh meanwhile, had hoped that home soil may prove lucky after their opening day defeat at Munster.

It was the visitors who scored first, with the boot of Jason Tovey earning three points early on, though Leonard equalised soon after.

Both sides missed penalty chances during the early period of play, but the Edinburgh pack soon led the way for a second Leonard penalty.

Tim Visser's return to the side saw the winger power over in the corner for the first try of the night after 47 minutes, after being put through by David Denton, and with Leonard adding the conversion from the touchline, the home side were 13-3 up.

Richie Rees went over after nipping round a ruck, and with Tovey's conversion, the Dragons were only three behind.

Italian international Kris Burton, who had earlier replaced Tovey, kicked the Dragons level with only five minutes to play, but it was Leonard who proved the match-winner with a long-distance kick with the last play of the game.
