This is a good signing for Connacht - It's also part of the new Irish Qualified Players rule , Connacht are exempt from that rule so they can sign him whereas Leinster had to make a choice between Van der Merwe and White and have obviously gone with VDM.
This is also good news for Ireland in a way as it means Jamie Hagan will get more game time , which he needs if he's going to be the replacement for Mike Ross is a couple of years.

Thanks for the heads up, I thought the residency rule was 3 seasons. Does'nt R Struass qualifyto play for us this October, has he been here for 5 years?.

@ GCP_JONES - he has to be here 5 years before he can declare for Ireland (assuming he has not played senior rugby for New Zealand)..similar situation to Richardt Strauss - he can declare for Ireland in August, in theory at least

Can Nathan declare for Ireland in a couple of years. I have to say I been impressed with him at Leinster.

he has been used sparingly by us this season, but when he has come on he has played well...obviously, Schmidt is happy with the collection of props he has, otherwise White would be staying...best of luck to him out west - he has bags of experience that will really help Connacht..
