Wales lock Bradley Davies has been handed a two-week ban after being cited for foul play in a RaboDirect PRO12 fixture for Cardiff Blues.
The 26-year-old appeared before an independent PRO12 disciplinary committee on Wednesday.
Davies was initially reported for charging into a ruck or maul, which includes any contact made without the use of arms or without grasping a player, when the Blues took on Connacht.
But the committee amended Davies' offence to an infringement of Law 10.4, punching or striking with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee.
The committee ruled that Davies' act of foul play warranted a low-end entry point. The international forward is free to play again on September 28.
