Good mates: Beale and Folau

Australia back Israel Folau has pledged to help team-mate Kurtley Beale however he can at the Waratahs next season.

Beale has re-joined the Sydney franchise after two mixed years with the Melbourne Rebels, where his second year was beset with off-field issues that saw him spend a stint in rehab.

Beale then joined Folau in facing the British and Irish Lions back in June and July as he made his comeback, with Folau excited about teaming up with Beale next season after re-signing for two years with the Waratahs and ARU.

"Kurtley's had a tough time [lately]," said Folau.

"I'm really good mates with him. I'm there for his support if he needs anything, and it will great to be playing with him next year.

"I will do everything I can to try and help him, whether that's on the field or off the field. Whatever he needs, I'm a good mate to give him a hand."

Folau and Beale are two contenders for the full-back position for the Wallabies, currently held by Jesse Mogg, but Folau insisted that he had no preference about where he was played as long as he was on the field.

"He [Beale] can have it [No.15 jumper] if he wants it. If I was to get an opportunity, I'd take it with both hands for sure. But it's something that has to be decided by the coaching staff," added Folau.

"I'm really happy just being on the team first of all and doing my role, playing on the wing. This year I enjoyed playing fullback [for the Waratahs] but it's very exciting to have Kurtley on board too."
