Australia fly-half Quade Cooper has remained diplomatic at the negative reception given to him in Sydney last weekend.

Cooper was clearly booed by New Zealand fans due to his history with All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, on what was Cooper's first appearance back in Wallaby colours after calling the camp under previous boss Robbie Deans "toxic."

Cooper is set to be involved again this weekend against New Zealand in Wellington, with All Blacks coach Steve Hansen and winger Julian Savea calling on for Cooper to be left alone.

The controversial Reds fly-half however has batted away his detractors, insisting his focus is purely on performing for the Wallabies.

"Everyone is entitled to act however they want to act," said Cooper.

"Whether it's appropriate or not I'm not the judge of that. I've just got to go out there and try and do the best for my team and hopefully perform well.

"You've still got to contribute to the team whether you're on the bench or starting."
