Higginbotham in doubt for Loftus Test

28th September 2012 09:28

Higginbotham passes Wallabies captain s run in Perth

In doubt: Scott Higginbotham

Wallaby loose forward Scott Higginbotham is an injury doubt ahead of Saturday's Rugby Championship Test against South Africa in Pretoria.

The Reds backrower, who was named on the bench for the clash at Loftus Versfeld, injured his back when skipper Nathan Sharpe landed on him during a training drill, forcing him to sit out the last 25 minutes of Thursday's session.

A Wallaby spokesman said he would be given every chance to recover and a decision on his participation would only be taken on Saturday morning but the word from inside the camp is that he is unlikely to play.

Pretoria has not been a happy destination for Higginbotham. Two years ago he was forced to pulled out of his planned Test debut due to back spasms in the warm-up.

If he is not fit to play, the Wallabies are set to revert to 4-3 split on their bench with Mike Harris taking Higginbotham's place.

tn2 - and you'd say that to Higginbotham, that he is disrespectful of the green and gold (or 'yellow' as QC calls it)? What an insult to the player.

Back under your rock, you do nothing for the image of rugby.
